While I'd hate to see Ryder go, if the Bruins could get a 1st and 3rd back, they'd have 3 1sts, 2 2nds, and 3 3rds to put towards a mega deal(s), and they's be clearing $4M annual value.

they can't though because Ryder is a rental Fisher isn't BIG difference.
Yes, there was a time earlier in the season when it may have made sense given the Bruins' cap situation but things seem to be a little different now.
That being said, players with a lot worse stats and lesser talents have gone for 1st round choices at the deadline. Who knows? Maybe there's some GM out there really Jonesan for someone like Ryder.
Quick Edit: Check the standings - Boston is in no position to trade Ryder at the deadline unless he is part of a package to bring a more talented person the other way.
Moving Ryder as part of a bigger deal. If they bring in a guy with a $7M cap hit, they'd need the space. Although, this may be unlikely, still trying gauge Ryders worth.
If Boston wanted to get rid of Ryder I think they'd do it for a 2nd rounder if they just wanted him off the roster... but he's been decent at times in the playoffs.
I think they'd more likely want to trade him to a western playoff contender in a package to get an upgrade on the blueline.
He's UFA next year and Ryder is one of their few experienced forwards capable of playing a top 6 role, whom isn't injury prone. I doubt he gets traded especially considering the rest of Savard's cap hit is off the books for the rest of the year if he's not coming back due to injury.
Fisher is a leader, good defensively, can take face offs and is more physical then Ryder. I doubt you'd find a single GM in the NHL that would take Ryder over Fisher unless they just wanted the expiring contract.

It's not a Ryder vs. Fisher post. It's what is Ryder's value. I would think it would be close to Fisher's value who was just traded. That is why I was comparing the return on Fisher. If I had to pick one of the two, I would pick Fisher, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't have similar value on the open market.

His post was stating why he though Fisher has more value though.
Fisher is a complete player. When not producing offensively he contributes defensively. Ryder is a one-dimensional player and his offensive dimension is not exactly top-notch.

Ryder is doing well this season. But he's been streaky and he's nowhere near the player Mike Fisher is. Mike Fisher manages to keep up similar totals to Ryder despite being on a worse team AND he's solid defensively. This kind of amateur comparison reeks of "I've never seen the Senators play before."
If the Bruins were to trade Ryder they would likely get a 3rd or 4th round pick for him with a slim possibility of a 2nd but only from a desperate team.
He's a one trick pony, one trick is all that horse will do.
