Oh, I wasn't aware that the Cup was handed out at the trade deadline. I must have missed when New Jersey won last year after they picked up Kovalchuk.

If Vokoun would sign our names on the cup in February then certainly we would trade JVR for him. However, TV in no way guarrentees us the cup and honestly, only makes us marginally better for a cup run THIS year and SIGNIFIACNATLY worse in EVERY year after this year. A MUCH MUCH better Luongo only returned a MUCH depleted Bertuzzi ad that honestly equates to Vokoun being valued at about Zherdev and a 2nd or 3rd. That's it.
I'm starting to hate the "You would win the Cup if you vastly overpaid for player x" line of reasoning. There are no guarantees in hockey, which makes deals like the Kovalchuk deal last spring look awful. If the Flyers think Vokoun can help them win the Cup, they'll trade what they think is market value for him. If that's not enough, they'll look elsewhere.
I'd do the deal if Florida threw in a condition that if the Flyers don't win the Cup, they get Florida's 1st round pick for the next 10 years. If the OP is so confident that TVo will make the Flyers guaranteed winners, he should be all over that.
Note that this thread was started just 4 hours before ANOTHER "Vokoun to ...." thread was started. Why do we need multiple threads discussing the same thing???
... man has JVR's value fallen heavily in the eyes of someone on the board. He had Schenn status before he started playing in the NHL.
I think JVR for 10th overall or earlier in 2011 draft + damn good goalie going UFA at the end of the 10/11 season would be a fair offer.
JVR for Vokoun + 2011 1st would probably be fair but honestly, I wouldn't do it. I like JVR much more for being a future impact player over anyone around pick #10 this year. I also think that Vokoun can be had for other parts we have. Something like Carle (to make the salaries work for us) + a pick (3rd this year or 2nd in the future, might have to be 5 years from now seeing how our GM throws them into every trade he makes and I honestly don't know when we actually still have our own 2nd rnd pick anymore) or a solid defensive prospect like Marshall or someone (also note, I really don't want to give up Marshall, he's going to be a solid 2nd pairing dman who is physical and brings some offense, think Bieksa for comparison, not great by still pretty good).
