The Pacific

Wow.

Every team is at least nine games over 500 and 3 points separate 1st from 5th.

Dallas was like ten plus points up a few weeks ago.

Incredible. Toughest division in hockey by far.

As you can see, Dallas has struggled in the past 10 games or so. It's not a sure-thing they can make the playoffs at this point so they better start playing better hockey. The divisional games will really have a massive impact on the playoff picture.

Funny how LA has the best goal differencial with +24 yet sits in last...

Pacific is pretty crazy right now though. It'll probably come down to the last 5-7 games when they all play each other. I know the Ducks last 5 games of the season are LA x 2, San Jose x 2 and Dallas x 1.

It would be crazy if they all made the playoffs. Wonder whens that last time that ever happened.

Four other people have started threads in the last two weeks asking the same question. Can we sticky the answer to the top of the main page until April?

Unreal. Will probably have the feeling of a little round-robin for the playoff spots for the teams.

Wouldn't be surprised if all 5 made the PO's

Pacific division title will be awarded the last week of the season. Silly.

Really? Guess I haven't been paying much attention to the main board recently. Very impressive. Those last 10 games or so between them will be absolutely great to watch.

With how often these teams play each other in the last few weeks of the season, I don't see all 5, probably not even 4 making it. Someone's gotta lose those matchups and unless the rest of the conference lays down and dies in the stretch, the Pacific as well as the conference will get fleshed out pretty evenly I suspect.

They've given up 16 less goals than the next closest team. Frustrating to see them in last place to say the least.

It's not just the Pacific. Only 4 points separate West's 3rd place from the 10th.

The problem with just putting losses and OTLs in the same column is that you're giving shootouts far too much weight.

There's also no 4on4 overtime in the playoffs.

If you really want to go to a "real hockey" system you have to count all games that go into overtime as ties.

IMO, that's the way NHL schedules should be....against divisional opponents. Makes for great end of the season drama.

Its going to be exciting the rest of the way. I don't think all 5 teams will make the playoffs though. Minnesota and Calgary have both really turned it on.

Unless the Stars get healthy they could find themselves on the outside. When healthy they are one of the top teams in the division as the first half of the season shows

As a Red Wing fan, I really hope the Ducks and Sharks miss the playoff. I get too nervous thinking about playing either of those teams in the first round.

All the teams won't make it. They play each other too much.

Agreed. I was looking at the Kings last several games--Last 2 are vs. the Ducks, previous three are Yotes, Sharks, and Stars. They play the Yotes twice, Stars three times, Ducks three times, and Sharks twice down the stretch. Very nice setup for drama!
