No Westgarth hate? Kings won 2 in a row with him in the line-up all you haters.

He also fought Engelland, King and Shelley in a 4 day span. Those are 3 of the toughest in the NHL. Maybe he won't see many games after this, but he did his job perfect over this road trip....Not many players have the balls to take on any of those guys let alone 3 out of 4 nights. Good job Westy.

Oh yeah and my boy Clifford is the bomb.

I want to say it was Handzus followed by Kopitar, but that is from memory and I don't remember exactly. It can only be out of Kopitar, Handzus, and Stoll anyway. I am pretty sure Zeus was the guy out there for the 5 on 3 draw and made great clearing efforts, then I think he changed up and Kopitar came on the ice for the rest of it if it was not already over.

He had a decent fight. And probably the only decent play we will see from him all season was in the first period in our own zone where he lost his stick and kicked the puck to a defenseman who got the puck out of the zone. In the end though, he had little to do with things, and Clifford is far better than him and his fighting ability seems to increase every game. He is the true enforcer on the team. Westgarth should throw himself in the nearest dumpster to save us the effort

Loved seeing Pronger go down and Clifford obliterate.

Now the real work begins... We need every point as it comes down to the wire. The west is ridiculously close and we have the Ducks x4, Sharks x2, Yotes x2, and Stars x2 left in the season.

The Sharks have:

Kings fans after the Pens game: "We lost to a freaking AHL hockey team? The sky is falling! We can't get into the playoffs if we can't even beat an AHL team!

Kings after Flyers game: "WE freaking rule! Getting to playoffs should be easier now!"

ALL around great game by the Kings!

What a great game! I loved shutting out the sh*tadelphia Cryers in front of all their trashy fans! I wonder if someone finally got around to changing Pronger's diaper?

As for the refs missing calls, that **** went both ways big time. Just one example is that Pronger should have gotten a misconduct for throwing a tantrum in the box, but he got away with it. Also, it's not like the Cryers had multiple chances on the PP and a 5 on 3 that they could capitalize on. Oh wait, that's right....they did.

Enforcers are pure fighters, heavyweights who are usually 6'3+" 220lbs +. Clifford is a 20 year old 200 lb middlweight. He is not an "enforcer." As much as I like him, he is no enforcer, he is a 3rd line middlweight with good hockey skills. He is a better version of Carcillo. But no heavyweight.

It really pisses me when you sit here and dog our own player who just went toe to toe with 3 of the toughest dudes in the NHL over a 4 day spam.

This is going to be one epic stretch run. Every game is going to be like a playoff game. Right now, only three points separate the division leading Stars and the 5th place Kings. It's never been this tight before, and the 3 seed is up for grabs. I feel that if not for the Kings terrible home stand, going 2-10 in that stretch, we could be leading the division right now. Stakes are high, one or two games could mean the difference of winning the division or being out of the playoffs all together.

Here's what the short term looks like for each team in the Pacific.

1.) Stars, 68 points. Schedule: @ Edm, @Calgary, @Van, vs NJ, @ Det, vs NSH

2.) Ducks, 68 points. Schedule: vs Was, @ Min, @ Stl, vs LA, vs Min, vs Col.

3.) Phoenix, 67 points. Schedule: vs Was, vs Atl, @ Nsh, @ Phi, @ TB, @ Columbus, @ Chicago.

4.) San Jose, 66 points. Schedule: @ Nas, vs Was, vs COL, @ Det, @ Pit, @ Cal.

5.) Los Angeles, 65 points. Schedule: @ Columbus, @ NYR, @ NYI, @ Anaheim, vs Col, vs Det.

None of these teams have it easy going forward, and the Pacific teams will probably upgrade and load up for the stretch run.

The next three games for the Kings are all very winnable. I would like to see them get 4 points out of those. That game in Anaheim after the team gets back to So. Cal is going to be an interesting test.

Interesting question lol.. I swear we haven't lost in regulation since..

EDIT: 7-0-2

He got fined after we lost to PHX 2-0, right? So we won @ PHX the next game (4-3 W); vs BOS (2-0 W); vs SJ (3-2 SH W)... All-Star break... @Min (1-0 SO L); @EDM (3-1 W); @CAL (4-3 SO W); @PIT (2-1 OT L); @WSH (4-1 W); @PHI (1-0 W)

Impressive, what's more frustrating is that after that great stretch we're still out of the playoffs.. Minnesota is playing just as well as us, if not better, we've got to keep winning though, every point is valuable

We're 7-0-2 after the fine. The game after the fine was when we finally got the big win 4-3 against Phoenix in Phoenix.

Lets hope the Kings don't take NYI and CBJ too lightly. The Jackets are 7-3-0 in their last 10, and NYI has won 3 in a row. Everybody thought the Pens were two easy points, and look what happened.

I think the Kings lose 2 out of the next 3.

I did predict the previous 3 games pretty correctly (I'm awesome! ), so I hope I'm wrong.

Good, I hope it eventually pisses off Lombardi having a useless player in the lineup as well. Unfortunately, we all know he is elated at the thought. Oh well...

I like Westy. Tough SOB. Its just he does not effect the outcome of the game as you would like to have us think. His staged fights mean nothing. I will give you that they MAY pump up the team, but thats about it.

Luckily, I agree with Murray and Lombardi, who see the need for Westgarth and who work in the hockey business and know more than some dude typing at his computer in the desert. So go get your law degree or spend 20 years coaching and go get rid of guys like Westgarth yourself...

Until then, he is an LA King.

I wish I lived in the desert, I could use some more warmth, flipping cold in the winter... I am just glad that breed is dying out and the NHL is looking into taking these frivolous staged fights out of the game so we aren't stuck with aging ex-NHL'ers throwing their macho bravado around in the new NHL.

As a Kings fan, I support all the players on this team, we all dog them if they have crappy games, myself included, but I don't see the need to dog a guy who just takes punches to the face for the rest of the team. It's the hardest job in the NHL.

I agree with you.

Just be happy that the one who controls everything about this team agrees with you and drafts toughness. For years the Kings have been a ***** team, but not anymore, so I'm now at peace....

Exactly. I don't even have to argue my case. Terry Murray has coached 819 games, Lombardi has a law degree from Tulane and has been working as an NHL game for 15 years. They agree with me. So it doesn't really matter what a bunch of nerds and haters say on a message board.

I support every player on this team, I've been watching every game since I was 13 years old, I pay to go to games all the time. I love this team.

el oh el. I am a member of the apologist party and not even I will go down on record saying that just because Lombardi and Murray have a good deal of experience near the game makes their opinions right on what the game should or should not encompass. By that Logic, my math and physics degrees should make me right if I decide to honor a time old human tradition and become a flat earther and believer in the heliocentric model of the universe. This just in, things evolve, including opinions.

No Telos Westy had a nice wrap around try and another shot on goal and didnt look useless at all today. Not a speed demon out there, but not out of place either.

In some ways I see NHL heavyweights like middle relievers in baseball. They are not there in the critical first or last minutes. They are not your closers and they don't turn offensive numbers for your team on the scoreboard.

But if they do their job well, they give the whole team a huge boost in the middle of the game when otherwise the team might start to sag, and there's not a guy on the team who doesn't love them for that unsung effort.

Westgarth performed his role well today and if you asked his teammates, every one of them would have his back, guaranteed.
