He had some ups and downs here and sadly I think he became the whipping boy (moreso when Malik left) when some nights he didnt deserve it. I will never forget watching a game in 327 and this guy was just YELLING at him about how much he sucked and what not. That opened my eyes to just how much he really was hated.

Anyway, I am excited to see what our young D can do. Best of luck to Rozi.

Thanks to Rozi. He helped re-establish us as a good team and contrary to popular opinion played very well for a few seasons, especially with big Malik, in 2005-06. 4 seasons in a row scoring at least 30 points while being reasonably responsible in his own end says it all.
All the best in Phoenix.

Had interesting chat with Matt Gilroy who told me he will miss Michal Rozsival bc Rozi taught him so much about attitude, as well as play

4-9-1 since Rozsival's departure.

1-5-1 since Del Zotto's been in the lineup.

0-4-1 since Eminger's been out.

I think this team misses Rozi than most on here would think. Obviously there will be those who say there's no connection between the two and that's fine, but I disagree. I think there's something to be said for the minutes and veteran presence and calm that we don't have in the lineup anymore. The same could be said for Eminger as well as his physicality. But hey, at least we got Wojtek Wolski.

But long-term, Wolski is more important than Rosie.

I dont think thats true at all. In fact, If Wolski's inflated salary hampers this team from signing a Richards, he'll be out the door and traded yet again.

Not that anyone's really been noticeable offensively lately but Wolski hasn't done much since his first few games. I'm not sure a first round pick who has been traded twice already and has a reputation of being inconsistent and disappearing is more important than a veteran blue liner who logged 25+ minutes, played in all situations, and was a leader and mentor to our incredibly young back end.

The problem has been our offense, not our defense. We can't score.

I would pay more attention to that stat if it was Defense that was our problem during the stretch. We are a bit weaker with Rozy and Eminger out, for sure. But we still a re below 2 gpg since the new year.

Offense is our issue.

Roszival leaving is the least of our problems, its Torts insisting on playing MDZ with girlroy and scratching Eminger.

Well one of those things wouldn't even be an option if Rozsival was still here. MDZ would still be in CT or playing with Rozi. Gilroy or Eminger would be the scratch.

I agree those have been issues, but they wouldn't be happening if Rozi was still here.

You haven't seen the defensive breakdowns, inability to make a calm play to get the puck out of the zone (something Rozsival was great at), and sloppy play in our end that has constantly led to goals during this stretch?

Obviously we're not scoring goals, but you make it sound like when we've won this year we've done it with offense. This team has won games all year by staying true to the system and execute it. They haven't done it since Rozi has been gone. Defense leads to offense, and most of our goals have come from breakdowns and inability to clear the puck out of the zone.

Rozi is a good player. I like what he did here for us.

I'm ok with the trade because of our young D coming up. That's just part of our evolution. But he contributed to whatever post lockout success we've had.

I started the thread asking what would it take to get Rozy back, but it was deleted by mods.
I am positive the skid we have is due to Rozy's absence. We need to have veteran D ASAP. Good defense results in offense, poor D often mistaken for inability to score.
Look at NJ, once they improved they back end, they started put the pucks in the net and points up in standings.

Seems like a different back end without Eminger though.

Rosie would definitely be gone by the end of 2011-12, at the latest. Wolski may screw up by then and will have to leave. But if he becomes consistent, he will be a second, maybe even a first liner for the next 10 years.

It's a good risk to take.

Worst case scenario, he does little for a year and we trade him the next deadline to a team looking for some offense but unable to fetch anything better for a price they can afford to pay.

I am sure we will be able to get a late second rounder for Wolski even under the worst of circumstances.

Exactly, he was just a middle of the road defensemen that was paid top dollar to provide offense but he was just offensive.

His spot was taken by Ryan McDonagh...enough said.

I really miss his soft defense.

If Rozy was still here and thank god he is not...he would be at best our 5th best dman, yet he would be making the most money...

This little losing streak has nothing to do with our dmen...it is lack of scoring. Rozy would have been a game changer for us, right.

If Rozsy was here he would be our 5th best d-men? Really? In what universe? Some of you are giving the young guys on the back end a little more credit than they deserve right now.

Would Rozy really be much of an improvement over Sauer or McDonagh?

If you want to simply ignore rookie mistakes and the experience factor than no he isn't.
He's paired with Yandle in Phoenix.

You can argue you this all you want...but the Rangers no longer needed Rozy's services...so, I would say the Rangers and I agreed on this one. Rozy = expandible and we should never have to write about this again....

The Rangers no longer need Rozsy's service because they have depth to replace him. It's coming to theaters near you...in the next 14 days or so. If it doesn't, his place will still show whether you want to believe it or not.

He was a calming influence on the back end. He provided stability and patience when with the puck.
