again, I want to see josi or blum, but not now. there is a learning cirve for rookies and they dont need to be going through that during the stretch run and the playoffs.

this would make so much more sense in the summer...

if poile trades a roster Dman, with Cube questionable, I would almost bet the house that he will make a deal for an upgraded rental Dman as well.

Interesting, speculation?

AK for Blum and Dumont?

Sulzer and NJ's 2nd for MTL's 1st?

I've said for a while that I could *maybe* see Dumont waiving to go to two places:

Buffalo (has a history there, his wife is from there)
Montreal

Oh man, if somehow Poile swings this...

AK and Yannick Weber for Sulzer/or Blum, Dumont, and our 2nd.

I think Sulzer will be dealt. Josi or Blum will likely be called up at roster expansion barring a trade for a defenseman. If we could get out of Dumont's contract (and yes I know he has a NMC), it is a win regardless of the cost.

Joe I know you mean YANNICK Weber but please clarify before Token spams you with hideous counterproposals.

Why not? AK and MTL's 1st for DUmont, Blum and NJ's 2nd?

It'd be cool to have the Kostitsyn brothers on our team.

With Dumont stuck in the dog house I like this trade.

Dumont gets to play and we get the K bros in Nashville, not sure how I feel about our prospects leaving but I'm good with losing a 2nd round pick for an established player.

On the other hand I like FatCats proposal, I wouldn't mind losing Blum as much if we got a 1st round pick.

I hope there is something behind this because I would love to have 2 Kostitsyns in black and blue

If Dumont does indeed get dealt, I wonder if the reason Poile pulled the trigger on the Fisher deal was because Dumont told him that he'd be willing to waive...

1) Poile doesn't unite brothers, he breaks them up. What's next, O'Reilly to Colorado? (Wait, that works.....)

2) Moving Dumont would work. AK makes 3.25M and will be an RFA. Dumont 4 million. Team saves, 1,182,796-961,022=221,774. With the remaining cap room of 576K Nashville could STILL make another move for an other defenseman.

3) If this happens, the rumored 3 million dollar bump in Rev. sharing and cap most likely will be coming to fruition.

Probably. That is why I don't think we are done. The chances of dumont getting traded are probably high because he is probably fed up with no playing time.

Well, AK and SK did have their issues BUT most Montreal fans said that the coach misused SK.

Habs fans say they want Obrien... Could we move dumont and shane for AK and something? Poile would have to make a trade for another D man but I could see that working...

But why would they send a full team of scouts for a week for a #7 dman?

My brain wants to agree with you, but my heart is hoping it's more

It probably is, but it has been speculated montreal is one of the few teams dumont would want to go to... I wonder if we could packages Dumont and Sulzer + for AK

See I agree with you in that regard. It is bigger than just a 7th d man.

Poile is most likely not going to trade anything off of the roster that he needs. O'Brien is going to be something that Trotz and Poile agree that they need right now. You'd be looking at moving a forward for another forward. Dumont fits the mold there, and Montreal fits as a place that might take a chance on him, but who knows what the return would be. I'd take AK, but it'd have to be Dumont + something not on the roster.

Interesting topic. Who knows what'll come of it.

Here's my question: what if Montreal REALLY wants Blake? I mean, sell your unborn child's soul to the devil want? What would be the asking price for that?

I would never do it but it would be one of the few times in history where the South could carpetbag the North and rip them off.

If they really want Blake, they're going to be sorely disappointed when they come to Nashville to scout this week.

There's no way Montreal is making such a production with that scouting group for a d-man that may or may not crack their roster.

Exactly. There has to be another deal that is being considered, and i would guess AK is in those talks.

No way Poile trades Sulzer without having another veteran D-man coming in. Cube isn't ready. With a concussion, who knows when, or even if, he returns this season. And Poile is not going to replace Sulzer with Josi or Blum with the playoff race so unbelievably tight.

I'm sure Poile would love to add a draft pick from Montreal considering the deal for Fisher. But he isn't going to give up a roster player without having an experienced player ready to slide into the vacant position.

And remember when Poile traded for Fisher it was made very clear that he did not want to give up any roster players or prospects in the deal. Listen to Trotz talk about the playoff stretch. He says the healthiest team will probably go the deepest. Giving up Sulzer reduces our depth. What happens if another D-man goes down with an injury.

Just can't see a deal being done for Sulzer alone. There would have to be another piece to the puzzle from another team.

I'm not really all that concerned if Sulzer is dealt and no defenseman is brought back. We're making Sulzer to be some sort of rock-solid, experienced defenseman. He's a fringe NHLer that has played passably while Bouillon is out, but not so well that I don't think that either Blum or Josi could easily step in and replace without issue.

I've said all along that we need to upgrade our defensive unit, even with Bouillon healthy, but Sulzer is more or less interchangeable.

If Poile trades either Sulzer or O'Brien, the likely recall is not an inexperienced Blum or Josi...it's likely veteran Aaron Johnson should there not be another defenseman coming back...

Slake: in your experience does a team send a group of three scouts and their GM for a week for pretty much nothing?
