ugh god stop with the vandemeer offers, the rangers dont want him or need him. Hes a scrub journeyman defender who can only play as a 6/7th dman. Thats not what the rangers need.

Jan Hejda from the CBJ? We're still scrapping for the 8th spot, so it might not happen that he's available but my guess would be a 1st or a 2nd and a middling prospect would get him. Probably overpayment but everyone wants defense and he's cheap and a UFA.

1st for Hejda? Hell no.

I'd rather do prospect + 2nd for Kaberle, tbh.

Like I said, overpayment, but it's a weak draft so picks aren't at a premium this year and everyone needs defense.

I would consider 2nd + middling prospect for Hejda, as long as it was WAS 2nd.

The post is asking for a solid bottom pair d-man. That`s what Vandermeer is, he would fit nicely in as a number 6 on the Rangers.

If your need is really a bottom pairing defenseman, you are going to have plenty of options. There's always quite a few of those available at the deadline. The question is which kind do you need. You can be picky when there's that many options out there.

The Ducks have plenty of bottom pairing defenseman available.

-Mara is 100% available, although he's definitely not a 5, he's a 6/7.

-Brookbank is the same thing, but on a multi year deal so he's untradeable IMO.

-Sutton may available if the Ducks are looking to add another impact forward. If they are content with the forward group they have, then he will probably be kept for a playoff run because he's a very strong #5. If he is kept though, Lilja should be available and he is a damn good #5 IMO.

Personally I hope we move Sutton and use the cap space on a forward, but either way one of Lilja or Sutton should be available from the Ducks. Both are great options for the bottom pair though.

Edit: out of curiosity, what does the Rangers current defense look like?

1. Gilroy blows.
2. Eminger has not looked good.
3. Del Zotto belongs in the AHL right now.

Kurtis Foster. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. You will take Kurtis Foster. You see this? See it? That's a gun in my jacket pocket. We'll talk details when the coast is clear, but I just want you to know what's going down.

Any panthers fans know what the value of Brian Allen would be? I think he would be a great guy to get for this season and next to solidify our blueline.

2nd rounder and a mid prospect?

I am guessing the Islanders will trade him to the highest bidder. He is a solid player who won't hurt you defensively. Very cap friendly contract as well. That being said he is highly injury prone.

I am guessing Snow would have no problems trading with the Rangers(sort of be a nice gesture to Martinek that he doesn't have to pack up and move across the country)

I like your commitment. It's hard to believe that on the worst defense in history, aka your 2010-2011 Edmonton Oilers, Foster could possibly be the worst. He's been passed by no less than 3 rookies this year. Maybe the lowest shots:attempted shots ratio in history?

Sign me up for Montador, Eminger can play the left side and Montador would make him look good.

Staal - Girardi
McDonagh - Sauer
Eminger - Montador

serious depth

Gilroy + Wash's 2nd rounder.

Done

Exaggeration.
Not gross distortion...
But exaggeration purporting facts not entirely in evidence.

Not in the least. He's one of the worst players in the league.

Montador would make the most sense out of all of the players mentioned so far. Stuart would be a great addition too from Boston.

They really need a veteran bottom-pairing guy who can add some presence for the young guys back there. Asking Staal and Girardi to play 30+ minutes a night is far too much.

Phillips and Hejda would be GREAT, but the price I think will be too steep.

no he wouldnt. the guy is absolute ****. hes a scrub defenseman and if we were to go for him it would be a huge waste of anything we give up for him. Id rather ride out our pairing of Del Zotto and Eminger the rest of the way then.

There are PLENTY of other options that people have brought up that i would be willing to go for.. Im sure there is more but i cant think right now im at work.

Montador
Allen
Hedja
Wideman

We need someone who can actually play the game and vandemeer is NOT what we want or need. If we had to give up quality assets then id much rather go for phillips, mccabe or someone that can fill in nicely and can play more than 10min a night and be a positive for us.

Either way, Gilroy needs to go, Del Zotto needs more time to settle in down in the A, and Eminger needs a solid partner so they can take another 5-10min of ice time and give our top 4 some much needed rest.
