That sounds ALOT like Versteeg!

Ladd - 1 (Girardi: After Ladd's questionable hit on Staal)
Chara - 1 (Neil: Response to Neil's hit on Seidenberg during the two teams previous meeting)
Iginla - 2 (Dorsett: unsure of cause, appears Dorsett goaded Iginla into dropping the gloves, Benn: response to Benn's hit on Giordano)
Foote - 1 (Pelley: After Pelley's hit on Cumisky)
Morrow - 1 (Letang: after they slashed each other a couple times)
Richards - 1 (Cooke: off opening faceoff....no idea what the reason was, but when its Cooke, its probably payback for something)
Doan - 1 (Kubina: after Kubina knee on Yandle)
Crosby - 1 (Niskanen: Off a faceoff, Pitt down 3 goals)
Brewer - 3 (Sbisa: Brawl when blues were down by 4, Ducks were responding to Winchester knee on Lupul, Ott: Ott goads Brewer, Voros: retaliation for Voros's high hit on Polak)
Phaneuf- 3 (Horton: Off a faceoff, the two had been exchanging crosschecks and slashes throughout the game, Kovalchuk: Phaneuf goads Kovalchuk, Newbury: Newbury hit Phaneuf in a 7-0 NYR lead, Phaneuf grabs Newbury)
Ovechkin - 1 (Dubinsky, After Ovechkin hit on Girardi)

None: Rivet, Staal, Toews, Nash, Lidstrom, Horcoff, McCabe, Brown, Koivu, Gionta, Weber, Weight, Drury, Alfredsson, Thornton, Sedin, Lecavalier, Langenbrunner (none while captain of the Devils, but has 1 fight since being traded to DAL)

In the end, there are 5 (Maybe 6 in the Richards/Cooke) instances this season where a captain has dropped the gloves after a hit on one of that captain's teammates. Of the remaining 12, 3 were the other team responding to the captain or captain's teammates actions, 5 were instances of one on one battles between the captain and his partner, 3 were after frustration at the score or the way the game was going. Brown is one of 18 Captains that have not dropped the gloves this season.
Thanks for the perspective.

Mason Raymond is the guy I want, I think he'd be a better fit than Booth or Penner or Hemsky. I don't think the Canucks will trade Raymond to a Western Conference team and they're in need of a NHL defenseman, we can't give them that right now unless it's Peter Harrold or Davis Drewiske..

The Kings are one of the teams likely to face the Canucks in the first round. They wouldn't do anything that could hurt their chances at a run for the cup this year.

Penner Vs. Booth, one has a concussion history, the other one plays pretty well every game (he missed 1 game this year with the flu). Booth has speed on Penner but all things considered Penner is the safer bet.

I don't really know much about the guy but he has scored 22 goals one season and 31 goals in another. He is on pace for over 20 goals this year. Is that really that far off the mark than his past 4 seasons?

Given his injury history, I'd say he is a perfect fit for the Kings!

He's also way too passive aggressive in my opinion.
Maybe thats because its ones job and the other not?

Wow, the Brett Favre of the NFL. Why go through all that to quit after 2 games?

Quitting before your homecoming game where probably 90% of the tickets sold were just to see you play is kinda...I dunno. Hopefully he retires after tonight.

We need the Avs to beat the Flames, so let's hope this sparks them to destroy the Flames.

I feel bad for him. Injuries robbed him of a good deal of his veteran years. He just loves the game and wants to play. Wish him the best, he still goes out a legend regardless what he does now.

Jesus christ, the Maple Leafs have a new 'Speculation: Brayden Schenn' thread. When will they just give up on him becoming a Leaf?

They're throwing out that Versteeg as a main piece of a deal is worth giving up Schenn; saying that his cup experience will help us in the long run over Brayden Schenn's inexperience.

I saw that too. Gave me a good laugh.

Toronto is literally so bad, that there's not a single asset, or combination of assets, that I'd be will to acquire from them in exchange for Schenn. They're that bad. The Islanders are a better run franchise.

I got these quotes from Edmonton board regarding Hemsky next contract:

1. Good question, how much do you pay an injury prone 2nd line RW?

Because that is what he will be for the duration of the deal. That is why he should be dealt.

2. If they sign Hemsky for 5.5 mil for 5 years I will murder the entire Oilers organization with a chair.

3. I am thinking zero dollars over no years.

We would have to be moronic idiots to sign an injury prone floater to a long term big dollar deal.

4. Better than a thousand hollow words, is four words that brings peace. "Hemsky has been traded". Amen my flock

It is hard to comprehend how they believe that Versteeg holds such value. He is a good player, but no way can he yield such a high return.

In fairness to Ales Hemsky.. Its probably pretty hard to NOT be a floater when you step on the ice every night knowing theres a 90% or higher chance that you're going to lose the hockey game..

What does he have to play for? His season was over about 1/4 into it.
