Cody Franson to San Jose

What would it take Preds fans I was something around McGinn.

It would add size and depth to our not so good Defense.

don't think we're real interested in helping out a team we're in a playoff race against.

What trig said.

If we WERE making a trade, Setoguchi would be the one I'd look at.

Is there anything from NJ that interests Nashville for Franson?

Wanted him in NJ for a while now.

Maybe during the offseason but not during the playoff race.

I don't really see us wanting to start Josi or Blum out at this time of year.

I think Logan Couture or Joe Pavelski needs to be going the other way.

Bingo. Seto would fill a huge need with us. I could see a deal worked around these two.

He's not even played 2 full seasons yet, he will be a top 4 soon though.

He's a big dude that can shoot the puck, those don't grow on trees.

Ha noooo way Juicy or Pavs would go unless it's a package for one of the big 2.....Seto on the other hand makes some sense for both teams...Mcginn has stunk it up too much this year, that probably would have been square last year though

Send a message via AIM to bigwillie
I'd be down with a deal centered around Seto and Franson.

Klein is a better fit for San Jose than Franson is right now.

Klein is better defensively and has a better first pass than Franson although he may not have as much upside.

Only down side would be that Nashville needs experienced defensemen like Klein or Franson right now. That and we aren't trading with a team that's got one less point then us, it's going to be a hell of a finish this season.

I'd do it for Seto.

I would definatley do it for Setoguchi
But How would a deal around Seto + Ginner for Franson + one of Ward/Sulzer/Lombardi sound?
Is the value close?

Realistically it would have to be an offseason deal. Unless Nashville feels like one of the defensemen on their AHL team is ready for the big show.

Or something like

Setoguchi and Huskins for Klein/Franson

Come back in the offseason and we will see where our teams are at. Right now Franson is going nowhere.

He is tall
He is not big
He does not play big

He plays incredibly sheltered hockey right now and will hurt any team looking to move him into a fulltime top 4 position. He can't handle a good forward yet.
That said, Trotz is using him perfectly to prey upon weak opponents and on the powerplay. It is all he can do and isn't being asked to do more - and shouldn't until next year.

Can't trade Klein, he has fully replaced Hamhuis, having said that, his first pass is not near what Franson's is...

yeah I have to agree that Franson is more effective moving the puck out on the rush than Klein. Klein is smarter, plays stronger, is positionally sound, can take a beating (took a puck to the face a few games ago and didn't miss a shift), plays tons of minutes, is great on the PK. His communication has been a problem in the past, but seems to be better since Hamhuis left.

Nashville is very good at drafting and developing defensemen, but we can't afford to trade away experienced blueliners right now. A deal involving any of our roster dmen would almost certainly have to take place in the off season unless we're able to bring in an offensive threat. We simply can't score enough goals to give away pieces which keep pucks out of our net.
