John-Michael Liles to Boston

John-Michael Liles to the Bruins. Does anybody see it as a fit? Bruins could use another puck moving defensemen, am I right? They seem to be always mentioned in the Tomas Kaberle sweepstakes. The Bruins have the pieces to make a move (Draft Picks, young players with potential). The Avalanche, given they are sellers and are not going to be around come post season probably are listening to offers with young players included or draft picks. What would Colorado be looking for? Seems these teams might have pieces to get a deal in place.

I think the extra years might turn the Bruins away from wanting to acquire Liles. They're going to go after someone like Joni Pitkanen, Bryan McCabe, or Tomas Kaberle to get their puckmover for the playoffs.

i think he would fit on the bruins pretty well but idk if the bruins will go this route and give up more for him then a rental but if the price is there i would hope the bruins could get him

I'd say that's a very fair deal. Yeah, he makes 4.2 for another year after this one, but he's got 35 points and is an even player, playing lots of minutes on a relatively bad team with poor goaltending. 4.2 seems like a reasonable salary.

If I was a Bruins fan, I'd be fine with this deal.

It's only one extra year. B's need a PMD for next year. Not a sure thing Kaberle/Pitkanen stay. That's a big gamble IMO. Liles isn't as proven. But, you'd have him longer.

Dear Boston fans(ones who start trade proposals),

We all know that you are loaded with enough top prospects and picks(thanks to Burke) which can theoretically land you any top Dman. We also know that you a need top PMD. But that does not mean that every western team in one of the tightest playoff race will readily part with their top Dman for your shiny picks and prospects and hurt their own playoff chances. First you wanted Seabrook, then Yandle, and now Liles. Who is next? Weber? Lidstrom?

/rant

Actually, the extra year is what would be better, because we would have a plenty of time to re-sign him (if he plays well), so we wouldn't be giving away assets.

Hasn't Seabrook been rumored to be available? And Liles certainly could be had.

As for the trade is Colborne too much?

Colorado's been falling like a rock for 2 months now and the locker room is toxic right now. Absolutely zero chance they make the playoffs now, and I'd say it's about even money they nab a top 5 pick. They've been that putrid.

If you want some extremely pitiful metrics, well...

http://www.milehighhockey.com/2011/2...rado-avalanche

I'd be shocked if Liles isn't out of here by the trade deadline, or the start of next season at the very latest.

What would we need to include for Hejduk? Would this work?

Liles+Hejduk for BOS 1st+Wheeler+Stuart and a B level prospect (Button,Cunningham,Soderberg)

one of these things is not like the others. one of these things just doesn't belong

Seriously. Yandle, Seabrook, Weber, Lidstrom and Liles?

liles last 35 games since Thanksgiving, 2goals, 11 assists -11

He's a pretty good PMD, but not an elite defender. And he is in an organization that already has a younger better player in Shattenkirk

Not saying they will just give him to boston, but i think they do need a rugged stay at home type like Stuart (UFA, but could resign cheaply), and more picks would help

The Stuart + BOS 1st/2nd I think it pretty fair for Liles.

He may be cold right now, but the team pretty much stinks right now. Either way, he's established himself as a 10 goal/40 point defenseman, and could certainly help a playoff team if the Avalanche move him.

His value is 1st+. If we're looking to unload him 1st + Stuart would be fine.

I think Liles would look great with Chara.

Personally, I'd like Avs to hang on to Liles long term. But if they have decided not to, now is the time to trade him. A 1st+Stuart would be a nice deal for both teams.
