No ****. I love all the i cant believe we traded a 1st rounder crowd. Your getting a proven 24 year old winger. Despite the flyers success with 1st rd, i take this deal. Good for Shooter. Now pray the goal tending doesnt go belly up in the playoffs.

I am sure someone else needs to go. Surprised eh didnt get burke ot take zherdev. Do they have something else brewing?

Would people really trade for him now, or wait until the season is over?

I sort of forget if he is RFA or UFA

I hope this isnt the case. I would rather have capable players sitting in the press box then nobody or incapable players.

If we are under cap right now with a healthy lineup (excluding Lappy obviously) and a couple capable spares in the press box then I'd like to sit tight until the off season.

I like Versteeg as a utility player, but I dont like giving up a first, and I dont like that he is signed for next season. What does that mean for Leino?

I agree to give up a late 1st and 3rd in a weak draft for a young established player. I like it!

I think Versteeg-Richards-Giroux would be a fun line to watch.

It's not like we're a bottom feeder team in a deep draft.

That pick (IMO) is overrated.

PLEASE RELAX!!!!! Plenty of time to replenish some picks. I can't believe people are so sad about adding Versteeg and losing draft picks.

The rest of the NHL is on notice, and ******** their collective pants.

Zherdev is a UFA and the Flyers now have 24 players on the roster, so someone is going. I just hope it's a trade and not waivers. There's no way someone looking for a scorer hasn't called about Zherdev.

You have been nothing but a whinny ***** all day today between this and calling Forsberg a bum.

The majority of the Flyers are young. They will easily still be competitive for another 3-4 years, in which case they'll have some more draft picks and enough empty cap space to sign some free agents.

Calm down.

Let me say first that I am a huge Penguin fan and obviously that would translate into me not liking the flyers. With that said I have A LOT of respect for you guys and what you've done to enhance your chances this season. Getting Leino for next to nothing, signing Zherdev and now you acquire Versteeg (a guy I hoped Pittsburgh would look at). Your team is pulling out all stops to win and if I was a flyer fan I'd be very pleased with how Holmgren has performed. You guys are clearly the team to beat and I can't imagine any team looking forward to facing you guys. Your offensive Depth is second to none and your coach is a proven winner.

Hm. That UFA might throw a wrench in the gearbox. Honestly, I think Carcillo goes.

Exactly. People over value picks SO much on here. Versteeg is only 24 years old, only a couple years older than any player they would be drafting and there is no guarantee that that player ever becomes anything more than Versteeg is right now. If this was for an aging vet or something like that, I'd be a little upset, but Versteeg is on the rise. Great move.

I never liked Versteeg to begin with. So losing him for draft picks kinda is pointless for me.

Enjoy him guys, he's a very talented player and he'll player even greater with a talented group of players that you guys are invested in. He's also very versatile but sometimes disappears and forgets his checking game.

Flip him to Boston or Pittsburgh (and hope it doesn't bite you in the ass) to replenish the picks.

Exactly. But at some point very soon we need to start drafting high again. Trading picks for players, even young ones, is unsustainable.

UFA is what might actually get people to take him.
