If the Rangers want to make any noise in the next few years with Gabby and Hank, they need Richards. Every team that wins the Cup (except for maybe the Devils) has had a legitimate number one center man. If Richards does become available, I'm wondering just who and how much Sather would be willing to give up.

People were talking about passed drafts before. The very nature of Jessiman's position didn't make sense, let alone the player himself.

The ole cliche is start building from the goaltender, outward...but if last season's finals tell us anything, it seems like the complete opposite is true. Everyone had a number one Centerman (i.e., Clarke, Esposito, Trottier, Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Yzerman, Sakic, Modano, Lecavalier, E. Staal, Crosby, Datsyuk, Toews....etc). I'm speaking for at least a dozen teams there, and many more Cups when you consider both dynasties.

Vancouver finally might win it this year because they have the most skilled center ice man in franchise history.

We've already built from the goaltender out.

We have one of the elite NHL goaltenders in Hank.

We have a huge talent in Marc Staal as the face of our blue line, with guys like Danny G, Sauer and McDonagh playing extremely solid D, and hopefully MDZ going back to his freshman form and maturing into a premiere offensive d-man.

This is why many of us consider getting Richards will make us a contender.

I don't think the 3rd place team in the west is going to deal their best player in the middle of a heated battle in the west. We are going to have to figure out something with Drury, and then sign him in the offseason.

Yeah. Now I'm wondering if he is legit. I'm not sure those players could return anything. Although I would have to think that if Toronto is going to move Grabovski and possibly MacArthur then they may be interested in Christensen on a cheap contract for another season.

Can't wait to see the fish they catch with that bait. I'll take the 3rd Toronto got from Philly, and call it a day.

I think he got that from anyone with half a brain.

Dangling Girlroy and EC is like dangling a dead mouse in front of the rest of it's sad mouse family.

Before people start getting all out of it, and getting worked up.

This time of year, EVERY YEAR, you hear, or see hundreds of trade rumors going around, especially when there isn't a lot of hockey going on. Most of the rumors are just that, rumors. SO don't get too mad, or excited by anything until you see some real reliable sources all reporting similar things.

If Calgary wasn't in playoff contention and still at the bottom of the conference like they were a weeks ago, I'd love to trade for a guy like Babchuk. Just scored again on the PP for them.

The new formula for winning the cup is a deep forward core, a very good top 4 that can move the puck as well as defend it and a relatively fresh goalie. By that rationale, we are doing ok, not great. We could use some more consistency in our scoring, some more seasoning on D, and some more games out of Biron.

Getting Richards not only adds that legit #1 center, he is great in all situations especially on the pp. But more importantly in regards to the formula, he bumps down the other centers who are probably playing over their heads on a night to night basis. If we can have Anisimov, Stepan, Boyle playing 2nd - 4th line with Drury bumped out, we have a pretty deep and talented center core.

Oh, btw, Richards probably has a concussion. It might just kill the slim chance he gets traded anyway.

sure this is obvious but I still think it will be what they move. If we all want them to keep the kids and not trade high picks then all we can expect is a minor move for including these two for a Dman
