Tampa Bay/Boston

To:

Mark Stuart

To

2012 2nd rounder (Philly's)

The B's are scratching Stuart lately, and with Stuart being an upcoming UFA I figured he'd be expendable. It would also free up some current cap space if it's needed.

i like it and would probably do it

only reasons i wouldnt do it is if there was another deal in which he was packaged for a better dman (pmd) or to keep him as playoff depth on the blueline which is important

but nothing wrong with the value

I have nothing wrong with a 2nd for Stuart, but two things:

1.I'd rather deal him out west

and 2. Philly's 2nd is pretty much going to be like a 3rd, and I'm sure we could get a 2nd from another team that will be another 5-7 spots ahead of that one.

I would be fine with this, but,

I like the idea of having 7 d for the playoffs. However, if there is a move available to upgrade the defense or centre position, then Stuart would have to be moved for cap reasons.

If nothing else happens before trade deadline, sounds good, but either of these pieces could be gone by then.

Tampa got Philly's 2012 2nd round pick, not 2011.

Done, Boston has been great with 2nd rounders that last few years...

Bostons going into the playoffs with 7dman not 6. If someone gets hurt they dont have much nhl level quality waiting in the background. So unless a Dman comes back I doubt you'll see Stuart traded before D-day. And Boston has a tone of picks, I'd say they'd trade him for a high 2nd otherwise why bother trading him and loosing that safety net on injure.

Why does it matter if he is dealt out west? Afraid to be burned by Mark Stuart?

Afraid to have a guy like Krejci laid out by Mark Stuart.

I'd rather keep Stuart so we can have 7 d going into the playoffs.

Stuart for a 2nd is fair value. HOWEVER.. I prefer to keep him as 7th dman incase of injury heading into playoffs. We dont have anybody better to step in & play strong like he caveman does. If Chia ships him out as part of bigger package (pmd) then so be it, but 'dumping him' for a 2nd just wouldn't make sense regardless of him being a ufa to-be.

Seriously? Everyone lays out Krejci nowadays. I don't think he's going to be extra mad that he was traded and hit one of our guys extra hard.

I think the old "trade him out of our conference" bit is an overblown cliche. You take the best deal you can get and ignore the tiny possibility that the guy you traded is the very one who will beat you later on, somehow.

Everyone? Aside from Richards and Oshie, I can't recall a single time he was "laid out." Or has the definition of the word everyone changed to two people?

OK, maybe I overreacted. I just feel like he gets knocked around WAY too much for my comfort. I'll let it go, though. It seems like Stuart is as good as gone and I just want as much as I can get for him.

It's more than fair value, but I thought Stevie Y said he wouldn't deal any of his high picks?

We shouldn't trade Stuart, but looks like is almost likely that will happen. That being said, send him to west.

Oops, I put the wrong year.

The 2012 draft is deeper so I figured that this may still be enough, not to mention I don't see Philly having a higher pick next season.
