Veteran Goaltender to Philly

Holmgren is obviously preparing this team to go on a massive run this year, and with tremendous depth at the forward position and a very good defense group, the only thing that MAY hinder their run at the cup is a veteran goalie.

Off the top of my head, Giguere is the obvious one and I feel Holmgren will try and acquire him. Another goalie that Holmgren may potentially look at is Vokoun. He will definitely put them over the top, but will be more costly to acquire.

A couple of trade ideas:

To PHI:
G Tomas Vokoun

To FLA:
F Andreas Nodl
D Kevin Marshall
2010 3rd Round Pick (from Pens)

This trade further takes away from an already bare Philly prospect cupboard, but it pretty much cements them for a berth in the Cup finals. How can any team possibly match up to them?

Florida continues the re-build by acquiring a guy who can play in the top-9 forward group, and a steady D prospect who is expected to be a stay-at-home type of guy. They also continue stockpiling picks.

A cheaper alternative would be to look at Giguere who could probably be had for someone like Eric Wellwood (no Kyle jokes here please ) or the 3rd round pick from the Pens.

What do you guys think...

Please feel free to take Giguere off our hands. He's the perfect goalie pick-up for a playoff bound team... assuming they feel someone grossly overpriced and of questionable skill is what they need to put them over the top!

The Flyers don't have the cap space for a goalie.

Theodore? He's been great in Minny, he's a rental and he has a low cap hit.

Patrick Lalime for a conditional 7th round pick

What, you never said the veteran had to be good...

If the cap worked, I'd do it, but it doesn't.

I'd pull Vokoun to Philly in a rickshaw for this trade. Unfortunately, the salary cap exists.

SERIOUSLY????? We have to do this AGAIN???? Couldn't you just have read any of the other 5 threads regarding the EXACT same proposal of Vokoun to Philly without us having the cap space???? Really, this dead horse ahs been beaten to a bloody pulp.

And the answer is STILL a resounding NO!

Columbus would probably trade away Garon for a pick if we are sellers at the deadline... Garon's already won a cup by backing up Fleury and can be a decent starter.

I heard Philly was dumb for not going after Giguere instead of Versteeg.

I would love the Sabres to do something around carter and miller but like most philly fans say you dont need a top end goalie to win the cup. Hence why I would love to get a true number 1 center rather then have miller in goal.

I believe your post has 2 infractions which could lead to your banning if somebody felt inclined to throw the book at you.

Oh good, I was hoping to see a flame war over banning people this morning! It's a forum, with the title of each thread being clearly stated, if you don't like the topic, don't open the thread. Live and let live. If people want to voice an opinion or have others assess a trade, let it happen.

I'd be interested in that. I have no issue with getting top tier goalies, since much of the frustration that Flyers fans have been having is from other teams' fans thinking "the Flyers need a goalie, so let's deal our backup for their great assets!" The goalies in the tier below Miller are myriad, which kind of kills the market and kills any incentive a team might have to spend assets. But if Miller is coming back, I'd happily deal Carter.

Dude, seriously............

Of course people are fed up of hearing about it, but only because HOMER says we don't need one.

We really DO need one, but we can't fit one under our cap without losing a significant piece from the roster, and that's a different story.

So save the hate for your social time man
