Here's an update on the update:

@sportsnetmurph
AV - Alberts will require surgery on his broken wrist and will be out 6-8 weeks.

So he's pretty much done for the season. He should be ready to go by game 1 of the playoffs but if everyone is healthy then he's likely number 7 on the depth chart.

None, not technically at least. But with him out the rest if regular season we can add a player equal to Alberts annual cap hit.

Playoffs start on April 13th, eight weeks and one day from today.

$1.05 Million - but as Spixel touched on, it's only if Alberts IS out for the rest of the regular season. If he comes off LTIR before then - the Canucks would need to shed salary to be cap compliant.

I have a feeling Gillis & Co. won't let that happen.

It's good that the prognosis is known. Gillis can move forward with enough data.

Assuming the lineup is as it is now with Edler and Alberts on the shelf until after the regular season, about $2.5M.

We now have enough room to complete our Mason Raymond for Zach Parise trade. ...but seriously any chance they put Rolston back on re-entry waivers?

Hamhuis has started light workouts in Vancouver. Concussed six days ago.

Hoping for no set backs....

Pretty fast for getting back into light workouts. Hopefully indicates things are on the right track.

Hope he and Ballard are back soon. Normally I'd say good luck, but in times like these... good health to the team!

Not bad. The other bit of good news is that after the Nashville game on Thursday we start a 6 game homestand and it's a lot easier to ice two rookies on defence when you're playing at home.

That should give us enough time right there to get Hamhuis and Ballard (assuming no setbacks) back in the lineup which means that we're pretty much only Edler away from a full lineup.

Heard on team1040 last night, they were saying that Hamhuis could play as early as Saturday.
