Van Riemsdyk (inquiry from Vancouver fan)

I'm not sure how he has been this season, but is there any way he could be pried out of Philadelphia by Vancouver in the 2011 off-season?

I know you guys are looking swell with Bobrovsky, and have a fair amount of other goalie prospects, but I think the best deal (from a Vancouver perspective) would involve a trade built around Schneider + mid to upper-tier prospect (Sauve/Shirokov/Connauton) + almost whatever (I really want him).

If you're wondering at all about Schneider, I think the guy would fit perfectly into the Philadelphia environment, and he really has demonstrated both the on and off-ice qualities of a potential franchise goalie this season. If there was no Luongo, he would be an unmoveable asset, but unfortunately, there's just no real future for him in Vancouver.

Bob's got a three year deal and has shown as much at the NHL level as Schneider has. That's our guy. I don't think the Flyers are in a rush to deal JVR, and if they are it isn't for a lateral move in goaltending prospects.

So long story short, I don't see a deal there for Vancouver.

I'm curious to see what you think we could fetch though. He will not be dealt but it's always fun to speculate

If you had asked before Bob was signed, I think people would be much more open to such a deal. But with as well as Bob has played it doesn't really make sense to target another goalie.

Luongo, Kesler, and both Sedins plus 2 first rounders for JvR.

That's an overpayment. The Sedins and Luongo are getting older.

LOL. Why not just ask Pittsburgh for Crosby, Malkin and a 1st?

Because that deal would be extremely lopsided without Jordan Staal thrown in there.

Because that's not enough in return.

No way, we want to win now. We need actual ice-ready players in return.

I'm not seeing enough bad-decent prospects included in these deals.

Not a good night to ask again, but in the next off-season, is there any chance a Raymond + Schneider + Sauve/Connauton package for JVR + mid-tier pick/prospect/roster player could get it done? I guess a lot depends on how Bob performs in the playoffs, but I think that's a pretty nice package.

Raymond is a nice player and that's a nice offer for JvR, but I still don't know that the Flyers would pull the trigger on that deal. They're sort of set with what they've got I think.

With how much potential JVR has shown + his young age, I'd be nervous about trading him for almost anyone until we see how good he is.

This made me chuckle. JVR is the man though so I say its a fair deal. I mean...c'mon...look at that smile, how can you say no?

For that 1st goal against boston in game 7. JVR stays. When he's on his game, he's dominating. Next year will be a break-out season.

People have to remember that he put a massive amount of weight on this year. Learning to play with that considerable difference is allot harder than some of you like to make out.

Where before he might of had a little more speed, as to a little less power, he was able to beat 3rd and 4th line players. Now that he's playing against quality opposition, it's going to take him a while.

The gave against the Bolts showed what he can do when he's in the right positions and has a huge motive. He will be a force. He goes no where. Neither does Bob.

JVR was great last night, so was Nodl. The kids are playing for their spots.

I can't remember which thread it was, but I was talking ish on JVR (not so much talking ish, but just stating I don't think he's overly special). He then goes and has a GREAT game. I'm taking credit for this.

Didn't he put on like seven pounds and get a little leaner? I doubt that is a hindrance to him in any real way.

I'd say JVR was great and Nodl was pretty good. He has been playing better over the past 3 or 4 games IMO. JVR sticking up for Giroux last night was clutch even if he was fighting a drag queen.
