I understand what you are saying but think about it for 2 sec, the pts at the standing are too precious to do this and when you bring a kid up, thats because he earned it and we think he will do better than one of our vets, its too risky to break the chimestry of the team to bring some unexperienced kids to play some games just in case injuries happen.. Its ok like it is, we need a defenseman now, so we call the Dogs' coach to know who is playing better, who will help us the most ect.. I dont believe 1 sec they wouldnt have called up Carle if he was clearly the best defenseman in Hamilton, waiver or not, we will lose him this summer anyway, he has just too many defensemen over his head in the depth chart!

It's going to be neat to see what Nash can do, but I would rather see Festerling.

Can anyone let a Hab fan like me (and others like me!) who missed the game fill me in on how NASH played tonight? (12 minutes of ice-time).

And, anyone know if Festerling will ever get a chance again this season?

We have got to rest Hamrlik, Gill, Spacek, heck...Pk and Wisniewski will need a little rest (less ice minutes).

Time to see what Nash, M.Carle, Festerling all can do for at least 3-4 games or more...

If Festerling is playing with the Habs it means that we got a D including Weber, Nash, Picard and Festerling, and maybe Carle, not sexy at all.

Nash was solid played a steady game and didn't look out of place, but i've only watched some of the second and the third, he didn't play much.

Wasn't terrible for a first game. At times the speed of the game looked a litte to quick for him. He didn't hurt the team.

He seemed to lack the strength and got pushed around but either than that has a really good breakout pass and is solid positionally...wasn't running around with his head cut off...needs to add weight and some speed and he can be a solid top 6 dman

Ok thanks to all for NASH info...

So, Nash is ahead of Festerling and M.Carle now?

What about Alex Henry?!

I thought he played solid, nothing flashy.

Hopefully the injury bug chills out going forward so we won't need to see Festerling. The focus should be on winning games right now, nothing more.

It was pretty surprising to see Nash ahead of Festerling and Carle. Would either of those guys be exposed to waivers on the way back down, is that the issue? It's strange to trade for Festerling and have him behind an undrafted rookie out of college I love Nash as a prospect but he's awfully raw. Anyone have a good sense of Festerling, I sure don't.

I agree completely. After a nervous first shift he seemed to settle down. He makes good outlet passes, his shots from the point make it through, he seems to be relatively mobile and even if he isn't terribly physical he plays the postion well.

When you combine that with the hockey sense that he seems to possess, he might have the potential to be a lot better than some of the guys currently on the roster.

I thought considering Nash played with Weber all game, he playd very solid. I was very happy with what I saw, and I think Montreal has a hidden gem in the system named Nash. I think hes gonna be an NHLer, didn't look out of place.

I agree completely. I haven't been as impressed with a rookie since we called up Subban for the playoffs.

He isn't as exciting as PK is don't get me wrong, but for his first NHL game, he showed a lot of patience with the puck, made nice passes, got shots in on net, was responsible. He didn't look nearly as out of place as Weber did during his first couple call ups.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's the next Pronger, but he's definitely going to be an NHLer, maybe even sooner than expected. We'll need to see games against tougher opponents to know for sure but he played surprisingly well for a rookie 1st game up.

When it's somebodies first game if they make several mistakes but at least do 2-3 good things, imo usually that's a good thing.

He did the opposite, made few mistakes (if any, I missed a small portion of the game but didn't catch any) and did several things very well.

Hidden gem? Could it be yet another hidden gem?

If all these guys end up NHL players then the habs are definitely doing something right with regard to development and scouting.

Our management seems to find a perfect fit every time with our AHL club too in terms of coaching etc.

Good first game by Nash yesterday.

He might get a full time job next season because of our d-men UFA's and the departure of R Obyrne to Colorado!

I would the same for the other way around. Considering Weber played with Nash, he did remarkably well.
I always felt like Weber was a solid prospect, never understood why some scratched him off so early.

Nash: ''solid and nothing flashy''...I really like to read that, thanks.
I hope he'll get many games to grow and slowly gain more and more confidence...with time we may be able to really see what kind of d-man he is...with time.

Loved to read the feedback from all of you about Nash.
Wish I hadn't missed Nash's first game. Still, it's good we have Hockey'sFuture for that!!

Festerling: ''...so we won't need to see Festerling....''
I haven't see Festerling play...but based on your words I would think that you don't think highly of Festerling's 2 games with our Habs? Do you think he's right after Nash in D-depth chart? Should we give up on Festerling or is he a project for next season? (#7dman for next season?).

What about M.Carle? are we ever gonna see him? (or he's also for next season?).

yet another proof that the coaches don't know how to develop players properly.

How can you tell how skinny a player is by seeing him on the ice with 10lbs of equpment?
