Brayden Schenn - The Future Of Hockey

Y'all may remember the video we did to start the season with Kings prospect Brandon Kozun (HERE), and we've run into another Kings prospect in Brayden Schenn.

Bugged him about how many teams he's played on this year, how nice it is to have one club for the rest of the season, his WJC disappointment and more in our new video!

Check it out here:

Thanks for this but the music makes it hard to hear some of the interview.

Nice vids!

After people view the Schenn vid, take time and watch the Ryan Nugent-Hopkins feature. He's in the Loktionov mold but better and a couple of inches taller, gotten comparisons to Datsyuk as well. That is a little bit unusual considering he's playing out of the WHL(Red Deer Rebels), so you know he's not soft! Excellent player, all great players, nice vids.

You really should invest in a microphone, other than that, thanks for the interview!

We actually use one but we're looking at ways to revise the setup.

Back to Schenn.

I really thought he was going to stick with the Kings, and watching him in the WHL, he's on a level that no one else in the league is. Good thing is he wont be bored because he has that Memorial Cup birth in his crosshairs.

Basically, he's doing just what the Kings Org asked him to do--Go out there and take the next step towards becoming a dominant FW.

He has done exactly that, at both the WJC and CMJ levels this year.

He could have stayed with the Kings, but I believe the Org wanted him to break in as a legit top-6 guy, which he wasn't quite ready
to do last fall.

He clearly is enjoying a "growth-spurt" right now, and should be able to handle 2nd-line duties next season as a leading NHL rookie-of-the-year candidate.

I believe he has 70-point potential, and perhaps even more.

I'm looking for 50+ pts as a rookie next season as
a realistic expectation.

With Schenn and Loktionov coming on, we wil have a true 4-line team next season (which we've almost got this year).

Hi, pens fan here. I don't know anything about Brayden Schenn. I know he's Canadian, etc., but that's about it. He's a centre, right? Is he like a Brenden Morrow type? If you had to choose a player he projects to.. who would it be? I don't follow the Kings as much as I'd like.

If I offered Evgeni Malkin for him, what would you add/subtract to make the deal work?

How confident are you he'll reach his potential?

Schenn is indeed a center, and the comparison that I have been hearing for schenn is that he is a player in the mold of mike richards, minus the diving and lack of class. I was doing the math yesterday, and at this point if he had played all year in the WHL he would be on pace for 158 points. Pretty impressive for a 19 year old.

And whether or not Malkin could get the penguins Schenn, I think it would depend on who you ask. There are some people here who would go for that, but me personally I wouldnt make that trade. With all due respect, it just seems like malkins game slips a little every year. And ive heard penguins fans saying that he has been underperforming the last two years.

Do you think that Lotki can fill that 3rd line center role? I would love it if he could, but he just doesnt strike me as a player that can last on a checking line. but I could be wrong.

XX-Kopitar-Brown
Smyth-Loktionov-Williams
Clifford-Schenn-Simmonds
Richardson-Lewis-XX

package Stoll and some prospects for a 1st line LW

Do you think schenn would be best fit for the 3rd line? I know hes a two-way forward, I guess the thought of using the 5th pick in the draft on a third line forward doesnt sit right with me.

Brown and Kopitar belong nowhere near each other on a line. They don't play well together and their different styles don't compliment each other.

It's simply because Schenn can play that grind it out type role, while Lokti only fits in a top 6 spot.
