Intriguing. It would involve Columbus taking on $6.4 million in salary, so someone would have to be going back the other way.

Edmonton wanted Johansen last year at the draft; the asking price was Eberle.

If I would have known about that offer at the draft I'd have taken it

Johansen is legit, but do you really think we would trade 3 NHL players and basically a late 1st for a prospect?...

And oiur GM laughed and hung up the phone and chuckled with Lowe about the asking price.

Regarding the proposal, I love Johansen and think he would be perfect between Hall and Eberle but that is quite a bit to be giving up for a still unproven prospect. The 2nd round pick is going to be 31st and is a very valuable chip (as NYI first mentioned it a few years ago) since it's the 1st pick of the second day. It allows the scouting staff to gather together and talk about the remaining prospects and go over the strength and weaknesses. Not having a time limit to make the pick I think is huge and I have to give credit to Snow for being the first person to mention that benefit.

Regarding the proposal, not sure if I would do it if I'm the Oilers which probably means the offer is fair....

You have got to be kidding me! Value is not even close.
I do like Johanson, but nearly that much. That is funny

The value may be fair but its a bad trade. Columbus doesn't do this because it takes their only top line. C prospect and it not only puts them over the cap, it also leaves no cap space to sign their rfa's like Voracek for one.

I think Howson's original offer might be the only chance, Eberle.

Man I like Johansen, but wow that's overpayment. But as others have said, CBJ won't ship him away

Nope. Too much for an unknown, regardless of the potential. Plus, I think that Columbus is happy having a potential first line center for Nash.
