Right, because Takahashi took the shot that hit Bieksa on his foot, and slashed Alberts, breaking his wrist. That damned Takahashi also got tangled with Ballard and twisted his knee, and drove Hamhuis's head into the boards.

What a jerk!

Ya, god damn him for causing Bieksa to fracture his foot blocking a slapshot!

No, it also applies to AHL players. The Oilers recalled Martin Gerber under Emergency Recall earlier this season when Khabibulin was injured. He'd normally be required to pass through waivers but didn't have to because he was brought as an emergency. The only thing is, the Oilers had no waiver ineligible goalie to call up (Deslauriers was the other goalie on their AHL affiliate and he's also subject to waivers), so I suspect you have to exhaust your healthy waiver ineligible players before it's classified as an emergency.

I seem to recall someone claiming that if all our D were injured he'd leave and never post on this board again. It was during one of the GDTs after I think Hamhuis or Ballard got hurt. I can't find it anymore if someone can post it just for kicks.

Maybe they're just geniuses. Maybe most teams let their players play through these things and downplay them but after the past couple of seasons Gillis is like any minor thing let's get you out so you're ready for playoffs. No tough guy BS. I don't know. Just lols.

Luongo's going to have to stand on his head for a week or two. The good thing is we won't likely have to go more than another 5 games or so before getting Ballard and hopefully Hamhuis back.

Case in point - Burrows and Kesler last playoffs. Since they acquired all this depth they can afford to sit players out to fully heal.

Good! That's what he's paid to do, anyway.

On the bright side, now we have lots of spice added to the mix for what was threatening to be an otherwise-uneventful stretch run.

Funny thing is Salo will probably be injured by the end of the roadtrip...
Sauve - Oberg
Tanev - Rome
Baumgartner - KConn

Looks good to me! Still better than the leafs d.

haha win.

Why win games the old fashioned way? When you can win with an all AHL d?

Ellington is not on the Manitoba roster.
He is assigned to Victoria in the ECHL. I'm pretty sure that players cannot be recalled directly from the ECHL.
In any case, the last report on Ellington was that he was out indefinitely with a concussion !! I don't think he has returned yet.

Hey, if the Flames can get back in the playoff race with an AHL roster, we should be able to ride this out.

But, hockey gods, if you need another sacrifice tonight, please take Oberg.

Not really. The only team with a legit shot at catching the Canucks is the Wings. We've all but locked up a top 2 seed.

Even if we only play .500 hockey straight through the end of the year it puts us at 107 points. Third place Phoenix would need to go 18-3-3 to pass us.

That's the beauty of all of these injuries is that they literally mean next to nothing. Barring the Canucks playing like the Devils did to start the year the rest of the season means next to nothing aside from first or second seed in the West. The Canucks play has afforded them the luxury of not panicking about this. There is no need for a stop gap reactionary move because there are no consequences to a losing streak at this point in time.

Everyone should be ready to go for the playoffs and no one should be burned out.

Assuming Ballard and Hamhuis are ready to go by March 1st (giving them two more weeks to get right) we only have 5 games to get through before we ice a respectable defense again...

The hockey gods are taking our defensemen as sacrifice for the bounty they will bestow on the Canucks late this Spring
