Simmonds was a late bloomer, there's no reason he shouldn't continue to improve.

I'm well aware it was the lockout year, Chief. It doesn't matter, he played against men that year regardless if it was the AHL or NHL. Are we just supposed to throw it out?

Jason LaBarbera and Jason Krog were AHL superstars. I'd say what happens there counts for very little.

Option A, they are the established version of Group B(excluding Doughty of course). Great Poll, had to think a bit.

If I replaced Loktionov with Simmonds on Option #2, would any of you change your votes?

I'm voting with Doughty every time. I love Simmmonds but he isn't irreplacable.

Group (A) is still the better core, that is where my vote will remain.

I like the idea of the build down the center. Including a C, D and G. But Brown and Simmonds should have just been left out of it.

To me, D is the most important position, so I went with B.

As far as C goes, Kopitar is obviously better than Schenn but, his yearly droughts are lowering his value to me considerably. From what I've seen of Schenn he turns up every game. But then, who knows how that'd work out.

Bernier versus Quick is always a fun battle. I prefer Bernier, and everybody knows that. But I still think Quick is the "better" choice.

Simmonds versus Brown is meh. Pretty much a wash.

I think A is probably the right choice. But I'll take my gamble with B because Doughty is simply the best we have.

Last I checked, "A" didn't include Doughty.

So does Westgarth. Schenn will be never as good as Kopi is; I would trade him now, he will never have more value than now.
BTW I dont think this thread is going the way OP thought it would.

Quite the contrary. I know how myopic sports fans are.

And trading Schenn would be a mistake.

B has Doughty and Schenn.

A has Brown.

Any group with Doughty wins.

I chose group B, because in my opinion after a few more years of development:

Doughty> Johnson

Kopitar= Schenn

Simmonds> Brown

Quick= Bernier

Really, why ? The first mistake was already made by drafting him

I chose A.

Doughty is the only player that made this hard for me honestly. Teams have won Cups without a superstar on defense before, and with the Kings being loaded in prospects defensively it's easier to give up Doughty as opposed to Kopitar, Brown, AND Quick who we have no proven replacements for. Simmonds is not Brown, I don't think he has the same scoring ability (even though Brown's hockey IQ is crap), Schenn isn't proven, and Bernier has had ups and downs.

Trade with Toronto and pick that swedish guy that was last year on the all star roster in big boys world championship (did I mention he is playing in the NHL this year and also he is a LW ? )

B is the obvious choice.

Bernier will eventually (and if the team didn't play like garbage in front of them, he could already be better than Quick THIS year) be better than Quick.

I am not a Brown fan at all... Its all about value with Brown. Simmonds is a better all around hockey player especially when you factor in the development process. Oh.. And obviously.. if you swap Simmonds with Loktionov is group B.. Its a no brainer.

Schenn will mean more to this team than Anze Kopitar. Even IF Brayden goes through a scoring slump (inevitable) like Kopitar is.. At the very he least he won't be as SOFT as Kopitar. He'll probably end up being way better defensively as well.

And obviously Doughty > Johnson.

Take MPS over Schenn? I would have to disagree with that.

I would think it is the opposite. DT drafted Kopitar, Quick and Brown. DL drafted Doughty, Schenn and Simmonds and to a lesser extent, Bernier.
