How about dropping Mason Raymond back to defense? He can be our Paul Coffey

In any case, the last report on Ellington was that he was out indefinitely with a concussion !! I don't think he has returned yet.
For the record, yes, they can be recalled directly. No different from the AHL.

They should at least be able to fill out their roster, even if it's with ECHL guys (they just signed one Salmon King to a PTO today). The Salmon Kings, on the other hand, could be stuck with a short bench; it's a little harder for them to get players on short notice.

As mentioned they signed Waugh to a PTO. If they get any more desperate they might see Stefan Schneider moved back to D.

Now the Canucks need to acquire 5 defencemen before the deadline.

They won't lose those things on the back of 4 or 5 more games...and 4 or 5 more games is all that may be necessary to get Ballard and Hamhuis back into the lineup. Ballard is expected to join practice next week. Hamhuis will join practice next week if he remains symptom free with the light skating/work outs he's doing.

When they get back the canucks will once again have a solid top 4. AV will think it is a solid top 5 when he plays Rome more than Ballard. Things become a problem if Ehrhoff and/or Salo get hurt in the next few games.

Let's hope that doesn't happen. And of course once Ballard and Hamhuis are back, Bieksa's return will be just around the corner.

Bieksa looks pretty upbeat about this "fairly minor injury":

Let's not tempt fate shall we. Last person I remember saying we were "lucky" was when it was announced Ballard would only be 3-4 weeks.

Dude, we got Ehrhoff back so it's a wash.

I can't believe we lost White though. I wish management would wake up and make better decisions. He'd be our elite 4th line center at the moment.

I can't recall the last time Vancouver's D was this decimated. Bieksa has been very good this year, and this is another big blow to the canucks. Erhoff is a good defense-man, but since Edler's injury, his play has dropped off a tad bit; he's going to be logging big minutes and hopefully he can handle it.

If the canucks can play 550 hockey for the next month here, I'll be happy...

Guys, it is fine! I was reading my Bible today whilst praying for our Canucks and look at this verse I found in Revelations chapter 27 verse 9

"And then the Lord unveiled to John a vision of the Canucks and of the tribulations upcoming.

And John beheld a team that was without a defense for they had all fallen save Sami Salo wh--nevermind he just fell.

And John spake saying Lord why hast thou shown me this? Surely, a team cannot win a Cup with this defense

And the Lord spoke thusly saying They will be back for the playoffs

and John questioned the Lord asking Lord Why art thou punishing the Canucks so?

and the Lord did LOL"

This series of posts made me LMAO.

Anyways, at least it is a fairly minor injury to Bieksa. I mean, we're playing Nashville tonight, so thank god he's out or else he'd have another leg laceration to deal with.

So how's the Salmon Kings doing on defense? We'll probably have to use all of them too.

Ehrhoff must feel like the sole survivor in a Friday the 13th film. The credits are about to roll, but surely it's just a matter of time.

I say we offer Sergei Shirokov for Mike Weaver and Marty Reasoner from Florida.

Not the greatest value but Weaver is great value for his contract and Reasoner's the 4C we need so we could start some early patchwork.
