Why ? What has Schenn done for me to believe he will be a better player than MPS and lets not forget we would have gotten lets say a second round pick maybe more from Toronto.

By this logic, you could say that Penguins should have picked Rostislav Olesz instead of Evgeni Malkin in the 2004 draft.

Dustin Brown made the roster right after being drafted. His draftmates Thomas Vanek, Jeff Carter, Zach Parise, Ryan Getzlaf, Mike Richards and Corey Perry didn't, and most of them didn't make the team for at least two years.

What is wrong with Brown ?
The players you mentioned all played 2005-2006 season in the NHL
And all this teams were contenders back then the KINGS right now are not

Schenn is not on the roster not because he's not good enough (if you recall, he was the best forward on the ice for either team in the season opener against Vancouver) but because the main club is not the best spot right now for his development, as he would not be getting a lot of playing time. The fact that the Kings are not desperate enough to rush young players unnecessarily is a good thing - embrace it.

His stats are 8gp 0G 2as and -1; why is Loktionov playing in the NHL if the main club is bad for development; is he better than Schenn ?

Why wouldnt he get a lot of ice time ? Isnt he that good ? I mean Tavares and Duchene from his draft class are getting a lot of ice time .

I refuse to continue this conversation with someone who refuses to come to terms with a simple fact that there is such a thing as "player development."

BTW I dont think this thread is going the way OP thought it would.
I've a feeling that Schenn will be better than Kopitar every year for about three weeks around December. You know. Like almost any NHL player in the league (What's with his slumps?).

What is the point of this poll?

I see it as "Would you take Group A without Doughty?". I don't understand why it's even being asked.

Make it January instead.

Kopi had 20 points and was +14 in december, to lead the team.

Bernier is a bit of an exception, but I think he still fits the bill based on how his development has been handled.
Schenn has never won a WJC.

OK, lets just hope he will not be "as developed" as they are lets say Tukonen, Hickey, Teubert, Roussin,............................... .

I started this poll in November, I just revisited it out of boredom.
