Have to go with Cally for POTG. Kid is looking at yet another Steven McDonald award.

I was amazed by both Brown and Doughty. World class players.

When you go to 11-12 shootouts a year, so many points up for grabs, it almost becomes worth it to keep a guy like EC who is almost an automatic goal in there on the 4th line. Christensen-Zuccarello-Wolski with Henrik is, and I don't think I'm exaggerating here, the best shootout lineup in the league.

I said it in the game thread. Anisimov deflected it in. You can see his stick in the crease.

Oh that was an ugly, ugly win. But we deserved that one (or not, we gave the game back twice).

Player of the Game
Ryan Callahan - dude played his heart out tonight; highlight for me was him stripping Norris Trophy-candidate Drew Doughty and pinging the crossbar.

The Good
Marian Gaborik - even if he didn't score, he would be here for me; he looked engaged.
Brandon Dubinsky - what else is there to say?; he needs to stop taking penalties though.
Ryan McDonagh/Michael Sauer - rookies continue to prove they belong.
Erik Christensen/Mats Zuccarello - they made Bernier look plain silly.

The Bad
The powerplay - again.
Not putting the game to bed - again.

The Redden
Girlyboy - GTFO my team.

Is anyone really going to tell me they were at all confident in our 3-2 lead?

I hate Torts, but I don't fault him for that. At some point, the players need to stop playing like little *****es.
Sorry but I hated that call as we had all the momentum and that killed it. Sam was foaming at the mouth that it was the right call and I knew we were doomed, just like when Joe said Stoll would score right over Hank's glove. I would love if they could just call the game and stop adding their opinions, at least Sam as he has no clue what's going on these days.

I was saying the same thing to my father during the game. With those 4 players in the lineup, I don't think the rangers would lose a shootout.

i agree that Timeout was plain stupid, no team calls a TO when u just scored to take the lead, its like saying I dont trust you guys and i have to tell u to make sure not to blow this..........it was stupid and he better not do it again, lol

This time last year it was more like 'oh noes, shoutout, now we are screwed we have no skill players'.

We picked up some key points in SOs this season.

Defenseman TOI breakdown;

Staal 29+
Girardi 28+
McDonagh 22+
Sauer 19+
Gilroy+MDZ 11+

Zuccarello with only 8 minutes, least of all Ranger skaters. Not sure I'm too pleased with it but with our roster full, somebody had to lose a few.

I'd rather see someone like Eminger getting 11 minutes rather than Gilroy, or dare I say I'd have a more defensive dman like V-tank up to get a game or two.

I used to think they were showcasing Gilroy, but who is going to want him? Maybe the nucks will take him if we send a pick with him hahah. Other than that Del Zotto penalty I thought he looked better at times, but still looks confused on the PP. They are going to add at least one d-man and they should do it sooner than later.

i didn't think Prospal looked very good tonite.

Neither did Prust. He failed to get the puck in deep, and LAK transition the other way with the puck ending up in the back of our net. His board work is absolutely atrocious.

Noooooo, that takes away our only wraparound goal of the year.

Well the Alex Frolov Memorial Trophy gets split between Dubinsky and Prust then.

The NHL website could do without the awful puns.

Have to go put down the Devils tomorrow.

POTG: Cally

The Good: The look of disbelief on his face after each one of the Kings last 2 goals cracked me up. Getting 2 desperately needed points.

The Bad: PP

The Redden: Throwing a regulation win away with 4 minutes to go after you just scored. Just horrible.
