Unfortunate health issues for the player this year.

What kind of contract does he get in the offseason?

What teams could use him and where does he end up?

The guy was tearing it up in Colorado before he got sick. Hopefully it doesn't hurt his career as it looked like he was taking off.

He should re-up in colorado for 1 year, maybe a small deal, around 2 million and see if he can come back without killing the franchise financially.

Given that this is the second time this health issue has cropped up in the past couple years, I really can't see him getting a raise. Too much risk involved.

The problem signing with Colorado is that he has to deal with a lot of long plane rides, and with his history of deep vein thombosis that might be a bad idea.

I'm sure that wasn't the problem. They were on basically a 20 game home stand.

If the doctors clear him I hope he re-signs with the Avs for around 3 million. Either a one or two year deal.

I don't think his contract will be that affected by this.

Either he has to be on blood thinning medicine and then he doesn't play hockey. Or he doesn't and can play hockey. There is nothing in between for him.

Denver is quite a bit higher than most places...

Silly I know, as 5280 is much less than 12000 but check out this study. Paper's available free access.

It will definitely impact his contract. He might not be on the medication at the beginning of the season and ready to play hockey, but his contract value (and especially term) is going to decrease because of the risk that the condition may return and he'll have to go back on blood thinners.

I know the whole altitude thing, but I was just saying it's probably not from flying because they didn't really fly much at all during the time he was playing.

I just hope he is able to come back and play, he is such a great guy. And funny as hell.
With his health, a 1yr 2.5(+/-) would be optimal I think.

He'a an UFA not an RFA, has no real loyalty to the Avs and this is a bad year for Top 6 wingers in Free Agency so he could cash in if he wants.
