I'm not saying a White/Hansen deal would address needs of either club, but value wise I'll still say White > Hansen and quite easily so
And you'd be terribly, terribly wrong.

wow, Canucks fans are seriously delusional about this... a borderline top 4 PMD is always going to be worth more than a dime a dozen 3rd line winger

Vigneault would not allow this.
as a ranger fan id love hansen or raymond. but the nucks should build around those players. ian white sucks. very overrated.

LOL. White is better then Hansen. Hansen is just a bottom 6 forward and easier to replace then you think. Bottom 6 players just become fan favourites because they have to work so hard to stay in the NHL. Its easy for fans to think of their value as higher then it really is.

The premise behind a trade of Hansen for White is pretty ridiculous, and the Canucks shouldn't consider it. Not because the value is bad, but because it doesn't really fit their needs. They ideally need more depth for their bottom 6 and the injuries on defense are not permanent. So they'll be fine come playoff time as all the Canucks should be concerned about is the playoffs.

I see the Canucks making a trade for a forward for their bottom 6.

Doesn't fit our needs either. If theres one thing we do not need, it's a bottom six forward. Keep Hansen, we don't want nor need him.

It's not a question of worth and you seem to totally be missing that.

Look at it from the Canucks perspective: Our 24 year old top-9 forward, best forechecker, and only energy player who is just showing some offensive upside to his game traded for a player who is at best iffy in his own zone and would be #7 on our defensive depth chart, essentially sitting on the bench and eating up cap space. Now see why we would be livid with this trade? We need another 3rd or 4th liner, not to be giving one up for what would be a completely useless spare part to us.

you seem to be totally missing the post where I stated that it didn't address the Canucks needs... perhaps read the thread rather than taking a quote out of context...

No, I read it quite well, thanks. You said that White>Hansen and that Hansen is easily replaceable for us just because he's a bottom 6 player like Nystrom as if they're all made equal. It's just not the case. I think you'd find all Canucks fans agreeing most of our bottom 6 is quite easily replaceable but that Hansen and Malhotra are not. Someone essentially said that and you called them (or rather the whole fanbase) delusional and then brought up the matter of worth - which doesn't matter to us because White is pretty much worthless to us - and then you inexplicably felt the need to insult me. Sigh.

It's so awesome that Mike Gillis has Twitter and tweets stuff to shoot down rumors and update injuries.

I'm just glad there's no chance he comes back to Calgary. Good riddance.

True. But GM's shoot down rumors all the time. I still wouldn't be shocked if he landed in Vancouver.

GMs do that all the time. Rutherford says stuff all the time. That's why when he says he won't be making any trades, us Canes fans can expect him to make a trade very soon.
