A 6th round pick is worthless. Looks like someone is shedding salary.

Avs traded Craig Anderson to Ottawa for Brian Elliott. There goes 1 team who needed a goalie in Ottawa, and I guess the Avs are giving up on their playoff chances.

The Avs lost like 8 in a row just recently so you cant blame them. Seems like a lateral move though to me except for the fact that Elliott is going to be a RFA and Anderson will be a UFA this summer. Really doesnt make much sense for Ottawa as they now have 2 UFA-to-be goalies and they need help in goal too. Just a weird trade all around IMO unless Ottawa is planning to flip Anderson at the deadline.

Colorado called up John Grahame; I'm thinking one of Elliot/Budaj gets traded soon.

Colborne, Boston's 1st in 2011 and a conditional pick for Kaberle the basis of the trade. Trade call still has to be made to close the deal.

Good bye McCabe! That's the ceiling for UFA d-men since Kaberle is probably the best. McCabe should return a first or a quality prospect, or a second a prospect

Overpayment by the Bruins.

And Dreger say Bruins might have another deal in work involving Wheeler. I would actually hope we tried to get him, because Bruins must move salary, and he might be cheap.

If McCabe is traded, I have to think he goes to the Canucks, they're desperate for D. Montreal could happen too.

dreger commented that the Bs were going to overpay - they wanted kaberle badly and, with burke cornered somewhat due to kaberle's demands and smarting from the kessel trade, they knew they had to really extend themselves to make the trade work.

not sure if any of that plays into mccabe's value.

Huh? Why would Ottawa want UFA to be Vokoun? Anderson is a UFA too. It's not like there making a run

Yes, we have such a great track record trading with Nucks.

Toronto didn't do bad in a trade for once. But, now they have a serious hole to fill on d

I would suspect its just because it will take some time for Elliot to physically join Colorado

The Ballard trade was good, as was the Hordichuk for Peters, just because Peters is even worse than Hordichuk.

Eric Brewer to the Lightning for a 3rd and a prospect.

Little surprised Atlanta gave up Peverly, he's a good player. Wheeler could be good, but he's not shown too much just yet. I think Boston got a lot better today, don't know that they have enough to win the Cup, though.

Erik Johnson and Jay McClement traded to Colorado for Chris Stewart and Kevin Shattenkirk

W.O.W!!!!

Really like the deal for St.Louis. Really impressed with Shattenkirk's offensive ability and to get a young, almost point-per-game power forward in Chris Stewart.....wow.

Avalanche are making some really bold moves, but it's similar to what the Panthers are trying to do in building from the goal out. I am sure they are not done yet either.

Ottawa is planning on re-signing him, and he's already said he's open to staying long term. Goaltending addressed. Leclaire won't be re-signed, I doubt if he'll even get an NHL contract to be honest.

Kovalev is back to Pittsburgh. Essentially given away to them for a 7th round pick.

He hasn't played well and is very expensive. I could see him being decent in Pitt but I'm doubtful of any type of impressive offensive production coming from him.
