The point of me posting this was to show he hasn't produced on the PP at ALL this season. Hes supposed to be an offensive defenesman and... nothing.

I dont think he has what it takes to play in the big leagues. Sure hes got decents size, skating ability, and all some good qualities but he just doesent have the intesnity or killer instinct he needs to be an NHL player.

MDZ isnt a 27-year-old, soon-to-be RFA.

At least we have all seen flashes from MDZ. What the heck has Gilroy done?

The funny thing is that had Del Zotto not been so impressive in camp and during his rookie year, he'd be in the OHL tearing it up.

And you'd be on the prospect thread screaming "OMG DEL ZOTTO CANT WAIT CANT WAIT SEND HIM UP SEND HIM UP"

again, was the almighty gordie clark involved in this decision. hmmm....

good luck trading him, hes got little to no vlaue to anyone who watches our games. i dont see us resigning him. hes history if vtank or kundratek continue making strides. and pashnin is still lurking too.
Hmm.wonder if Gordie Clark had any input in Kundratek or Pashnin, or in the V Tank trade.

Not bad, in the same post you undo your own unmatched sarcasm.

I don't want to argue with you but playing the last 20 seconds of every 3rd pp doesn't give him much oppurtunity...

these people jumping on gilroy like he's been completely horrible are so ridiculous. yeah, he's not the star we all hoped he would be, but he's been a solid 3rd line defeseman and clearly has the potential to learn the NHL game a little bit more. i wouldn't care too much if he ended up getting traded simply because we have so much depth at defense, but the guy hasn't been that bad and has been definitely been better than MDZ.

1) I don't know whoever thought he was going to be a star, let alone said as much.

2) He's been a serviceable third line defenseman. Not a solid one.

3) While I don't think anyone thought he would be a star, I do think that people expected more than a serviceable third pairing defenseman who does not provide, create or add offense.

4) I can't and won't defend the way Del Zotto has played this year but the fact remains that he's 6 years younger than Gilroy and last year had more points than Gilroy has career points.

5) "He's been better than Del Zotto" is hardly an endorsement.

I was under the assumption that only Power Play goals against didn't effect +/-. I could be wrong. I'd just like to read the official ruling on that.
Singin' is correct--the only time a player on a powerplay gets a +/- is when there is a short handed goal.

If you don't believe it, check out any box score at ESPN and it defines +/- at the very bottom.

Probably cuz they're both no good. Poti's shoulder pads are bigger than Gilroy's body. Always hated looking at him.

The most disappointing thing about Poti is he had all the tools. Just lacked the heart. The guy could have been a consistent Norris Trophey candidate.

I am going to predict a 2nd rounder and Gilroy for McCabe on deadline day
McCabe can ONLY shoot.
Gilroy can play + skate.

No, we'll find a creative alternative before the deadline, even if Kabs is now w/BB.

It is not time to move on from Gilroy --- not yet.
Possibly next year when other assets have arrived.
Not yet.
Talk about lesser players w/other flaw sets --- Kuba, etc., especially in light of cap, does not make sense...
