I don't see Dean making a huge splash at the deadline. Teams like the Oilers and Panthers are overpricing their players.

Nope teams are simply going to ask for way too much from the Kings. I could see why as well. Why would the Oilers been in any hurry to help the Kings out. Booth so far looks like the only real deal that can be out there.

He is in a Different Conference on a long term contract, with some nice upside. It doesn't really hurt Florida to make Booth a King.

The longer the Oilers wait, the more valuable the first rounder could potentially become, though on the other hand, the longer they wait, the less relevant a deal for Hemsky could mean to the Kings and they may move on to the offseason to acquire a player at the draft. If we fall out of the race, we no longer need Hemsky, and can potentially shoot for someone better in the offseason.

EJ to Colorado for Chris Stewart!!!!!!!!!

What a block buster between non-playoff team.

STL Depletes their D in about 18 hours.

I don't know...

Last year it was all about Kovalchuk for Simmonds/prospect/picks.

I'm just expecting some retread pickups, like the Kings get O'Sullivan back for a conditional pick (like the Modin trade). Or maybe Dean picks up Cheechoo for nothing.

Those are the type of deals I will expect, not Teubert or Voynov/1st round pick for Hemsky.

I can't believe the Blues had to add a first while the Avs only a 2nd. Johnson is by far the best player in that deal. It is tough to tell, so many question marks. Can Johnson live up to his potential? Can Stewart or Shattenkirk? So many what if's. Right now I give the edge to Colorado, but who knows in a few seasons. Totally out of left field, just shocked over the deal.

EJ is not a bad player, but he is always going to leave you wanting more. Even when he was 17 and 18 it was the same way.

He is an enigma, he has all the talent in the world and is 6'5. He just has never put it all together. He is still very young and even now is a top pairing d-man, but not sure he'll ever be that franchise type d-man many expected.

Wow Blues got killed in that deal. I guess this is what Dean talks about when you panic at the dead line. You do something Stupid 90 percent of the time.

Fans on the main board are viewing it as:

Stewart for EJ
then
Shattenkirk, 2nd for McClement, 1st

Either way, Blues get bent over in this deal.

Blues got a player who will be at least a top three power forward in the league and a good young PMD. Killed? Hardly. Stewart will get near to or surpass 40 goals in a season at many points in his career.

Avalanche fixed their needs, #1 Dman, Centre, and got a first round pick, granted its condintional. But, Blues didn't need Stewart, Shattenkirk, or a 2nd round pick. This move makes no sense for the Blues.

Exactly. The Blues got the better end of the deal hands down. Stewart was a point/game power forward this season before injuring his wrist and Shattenkirk is having a breakthrough season (have you seen him skate? He can fly and he's got pretty good hands).

Great great deal for St.Louis.
