Very good Journeyman PMD. He is excellent with the puck in the offensive zone and in his transition game through the Nuetral Zone.
As with all PMD's his defensive game suffers some, but with a solid shutdown d man, he is well worth the 3 million the season.

I'm on this boat too. He is well worth what we've been paying him, and if you look back at the signing thread in the off-season I'm sure there is a lot of crow to be eaten.

He's good. He already has 32 points and seems to be worth the $3M hes getting a season.

I really wish we would have re-signed Lydman though.

Overall I am happy with him. I wasn't sure at the beginning of the season, I was more excited about Morrison.

Imagine if we had kept Lydman and shipped away Rivet. We would have had a much better defense this season.

Ditto

I just hope he keeps playing like this for the next few years.

a couple of brain farts here and there, but overall I've been happy with his play. When they can actually get possession of the puck in the zone on the PP he seems to run the point very well.

I'd still take Lydman 10 times out of 10.

Same. I also still think Leopold is a wussy.

Agree, but Leopold's been good, especially offensively. I'd like to have them both and get rid of Rivet, as someone else said.

Same here. Still would have preferred Lydman, but certainly Leopold has performed great this season.

He's a very good offensive defenseman. Is solid positionally, but makes some bonehead plays. Has a tendency to play the puck and not the man.

Very good in the offensive zone. Excellent shot, great vision, very good passer. Much better than I anticipated.

Worth the money he's getting. Very solid defenseman.

Solid.

Few mistakes, great outlets, and useful on the PP. I admire his smart play when he enters the offensive zone during 5 on 5 as well.

Of course, I was wrong about Leopold coming into camp as the #2 guy paired with Myers....but in all fairness we hadn't yet signed the guy who did end up entering camp as the #2 (Morrisson)

I have always liked Leopold since I saw him play for The flames in O3-04. And when the sabres got him I was pretty happy with the signing, and still am. I would love to see a thread of all the Lydman haters a few weeks before he went to The ducks.

I was under the assumption that he was more of an emergency signing and thought that his contract was pretty bad.

Turns out that he is a real good player who has contributed alot this season.

Hope that he can continue for the rest of the contract.

Is he a top 4 guy? Probably not on a good team or a team deep on D. Sabres aren't real deep on D, so I think there's a CHANCE he gets on the 2nd pairing. Not a great signing, not a lousy one. Pretty much strikes me as a typical Darcy move on a typical Sabres defenseman.

However, for the love of all that is holy --- keep him away from Montador. Don't need 2 guys pinching all the time.

Ooooooooooooooops. Leo/Monty have been our best pair all year.

Otherwise, he's been pretty much what I expected.......
