Meh, it's not the worst trade I've ever seen. I'd probably do it.

Toronto has basically reached its capacity of bottom-of-the-lineup players. Next year, Brown-Orr should occupy the wings on the 4th line, Lupul-Armstrong on the 3rd, MacArthur-Kulemin on the 2nd, and ____-Kessel on the first. If Toronto's going to acquire another winger, it needs to be a guy with the skills to play on a top line.

I disagree, I think that number one center in Richards is prioritized more than that LW right now. Burke has been pretty impressed with Lupul so far.

Therefore, it would be:

Lupul -- Richards? -- Kessel
Kulemin -- Grabovski -- MacArthur
Clarkson -- Bozak -- Armstrong

I'd do this deal.

Devils most likely say no.

However I would John Madden from the early 2000s. .__. I miss the days when two-way centers were cherished.

Wasn't Clarkson pretty much untouchable just last season?

Leafs fans really need to get over Richards. As much as Burke talks about free agency, he also talks about getting players that fit in with this team's age group (20-28). Plus, that first line would be an awful fit together. One of the reasons Richards has been so good this year is because he's got guys like Neal/Morrow/Benn to do the dirty work.

Yup, just like Thomas was the whipping boy for Bruins, everyone wanted him out. Or Stafford with Buffalo. Things change.

I wouldn't do it, a low 3rd in a weak draft, nah. '12 2nd, though, yes.

Clarkson has really been solid lately. The cap hit is very annoying though.

I'd probably want a bigger return though. Idk.

Clarkson's play relative to his cap hit makes the value appropriate here. It ends up being a gamble for Toronto. If Clarkson can play like he has in the past, it's a steal for Toronto. Otherwise, the Leafs just end up getting saddled with the same headache Jersey has right now.

I would do this in a heartbeat, and if Devils fans wanted a bit more, I'd throw in another pick/minor prospect. It's worth it.

Agree. He's worth more than a third, at least to the Devils. He hasn't had the best season, buy who has on the Devils. It now seems like he's finding his game again as everyone else has. I think David gets another season in NJ.

Philly's third rounder is likely to be around pick #90, and this is a weak draft. Clarkson can return more than that, so no thanks.

You have to be kidding... A 90th overall pick for Clarkson? Hope you are kidding. More like Toronto's third and a prospect like Mueller or Caputi. New Jersey is not a charity here. Im a leafs fan too.. But lets not be delusional

Idk in the off-season I wouldn't mind to part with Clarkson for a 3rd. We could really use the cap space.

This.

He's the only "sand paper" guy we have on our roster and is better then what we've been seing. He needs to remember that he got his raise cause he was throwing hits every 5 seconds, forechecking hard and doing all the little things a 3rd liner does.

Since he got his new contract cause he almost hit the 20 plateau, he thinks he's the next coming of Crosby or something. He played really well under Sutter cause he knew his role. MacLean came in and ****ed everything up from Clarkson to Kovalchuk. John MacLean was a great player but I will remember him as the worst coach this organisation ever hired.

I'm certain Clarkson will turn his game around.

The Leafs have no need for another gritty player, any chance of Clarkson coming to town, fizzled out when we signed Armstrong. This is not a move that would address our biggest need: scoring.

just because it's a weak draft, doesnt mean they draft someone that exceeds their expectations

A low third round pick has a pretty low chance of turning into a player as useful as Clarkson. He's overpaid, but he does a lot of things that a team needs its players to do in order to be successful.
