We need a hero - Islanders beat Kings 3-0 Postgame Thoughts

The Kings didn't show up. Lombardi needs to make a trade. No one should be safe except for Kopitar, Quick, Doughty, and Johnson. There's no reason to go 8-0-3, go into a game against a weaker team at their house, and then just die. If we had lost in a tough game? Fine. If we had lost 3-0, but at least showed energy and caught some bad breaks like the last game we lost in regulation against Phoenix? Sure, whatever, still mad, but we would have at least played decent.

This was possibly the worst game of the season. I've watched every single game this year, and this was the most boring, non caring and dead team I've seen all year. We got destroyed in Montreal, but this game might top it because at least we scored a goal there.

Make a damn trade, Lombardi. Every other team in the West who needs help is getting it. The road trip is over. The Kings are going home against Anaheim. We have three days off. We need to make the push now, please.

Oh, and Loktionov should have not been scratched for Westgarth. He's terrible.

Glad Westgarth played, he really stood up and protected the guys tonight.

Can't wait to hear the same old quotes of, "we needed to play a full 60 minutes".

Worse game of the season AINEC

At least Anaheim is getting shelled 7-3. But the Islanders goalies also suck, so be sure McQuackup will shutout us on Wednesday.

It was a bad night all around, but it happens to ALL teams.

Anyone who follows the Kings closely should have known they we're going to have trouble with this match up.

We always lose to bad, injured teams. It's like these guys all forgot what its like to be a bad, young team underestimated every night.

You knew they were going to lay an egg at some point. At least it wasn't in a 4-point game against a Western Conference opponent.

Can't wait for the likes of Handzus and Ponikarovsky to be done with this team. This roster is full of slugs, the Isles speed exposed the Kings. An outright disgraceful performance by all players on the ice, not a single King stood out for having a good game. It's as if they were waiting to get back to the hotel as soon as the puck dropped. Not a bit of fight shown from a team that should be playing with desperation.

sensible head on

Islanders have won 5 of their last 6 so were hot + they are a fast team, what teams do the Kings struggle with most? Oh thats right, fast teams.

I never bothered saying because i would have been crucified, but this was the 2nd least game i had confidence in the Kings winning on this road trip, behind the game vs Philly

you can't win every game, nor is any team ever 100% probability to win a game

Luckily losing vs the Isles doesnt hurt us too much because its the games vs the Pacific that count.

6-1-3 road trip so far, 100% of people on this board would have taken that plus i would much rather tham have a bad game and lose vs the Islanders over the Ducks

Loktionov should've played, not just saying that because we lost but because it's clear to me that he's the only creative guy offensively, Handzus and Stoll are really 2-way forwards, they've got no creativity and that's something Loktionov brings to the table that our other centers don't.

Here's to hoping he's back in on Wednesday (most likely won't be because Sturm should be back)

It's still a great trip, no doubt about it. Just frustrating to see MM produce against us, two goals + a goal post.

Moulson, Gaborik and Cammy all scored against us this season, just a reminder that the Kings lack of talent is no ones to blame but our managements.

We need to get something at the deadline, we have to many guys playing a line to high. Clifford for example, love him as a player, loves what he brings but he isn't a Top 9 forward in the NHL at this point. Perfect for a 4th line role, not a 3rd line role with Handzus and Brown.

Looks like the coach wasn't snoozing behind the bench, he even acknowledged the team couldn't connect with passes tonight. A lack of speed and puck support tends to do that.

Anze Kopitar: 3 goals in past 30 games
Dustin Brown: 3 goals in past 24 games
Justin Williams: 6 goals in past 25 games
Ryan Smyth: 5 goals in past 22 games.
Jarret Stoll: 8 goals in past 35 games.
Michal Handzus: 6 goals in past 48 games.

That isn't a lot of offense and there is a lot of inconsistency from the six highest paid forwards on the Kings.
