Tough one but I've never heard of Blain and Omark isn't what I want from Edmonton.

Would something based around Kadri and Paarjavi work?

Probably not.

I like the idea of the Oilers acquiring a center but at this time Kadri doesn't appear to be the type (big, smart, defensively responsible play making center) the Oilers should be targeting.

We already have a Kadri style center in Gagner who is doing just fine for the Oil right now.

Fair enough. I just wouldn't give up Kadri for Omark.

(If I was a Leafs fan) neither would I.

Watching the Marlies game yesterday, Kadri has improved ALOT. He still has some holes in his game, but it is clear that he is the most talented player on the ice. I'd rather hold onto him, he has to much potential to let go.

It's possible, but unlikely. Toronto needs centers more than they need wingers.

Well that's nice to hear... last thing we need is 100 kadri proposals every day... but instead we'll test the patience of Kings fans with 100 B-Schenn proposals every day.

I feel the same. We are never going to build a legitimate franchise trading away our top prospects. I said this when they tradeing Stalberg, DiDomenico and Paradis for Steeger, although that ended up being kind of a success considering stalberg has been pretty bad.

Paradis tops out at 3rd line. Dido's career has been ruined because of his injury, and no longer projects to top 6, and Stalberg is a 3rd liner.

These were not top prospects, and Versteeg at the time (and even now) was worth it

I agree with your general point though. Kadri, Schenn, Aulie, Gysbers, Colborne, Gardiner, Blacker should all not be traded, unless its part of a package for a better prospect:

e.g Blacker and a 2nd to Detroit for Brendan Smith (just throwing a quick example, not propsoing this)

Voynov
or
Moller+Teubert

To me Kadri tops out as another Riberio, not a knock just that's how I view him.

So are you OLF's replacement? Seriously why do you want to trade Kadri? He's our most promising prospect..did 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007 teach you nothing? Don't give up first rounders.

Wow? A Kadri thread that hasn't spiraled into lunacy yet? I'm surprised everyone is getting along so far, other than the guy who decided a facepalm was good enough for a post, or the classic "7th rounder! Ha ha, I'm so original!"

As far as Edmonton TO goes, I agree with everything said so far.
Omark for Kadri is an underpayment. I'm an Oiler fan and I have no idea who Blain is. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he sucks.

As far as Paajarvi for Kadri, the value seems fair, but like it has been said, Edmonton needs a big, defensively sound #1 center, so if we're talking prospects I'd say more in the line of Colborne, who I'm not sure I'd give Paajarvi up for either.

I'm going to go with the not trading him option.

Unless it is part of a package for an even better prospect or young player, then it makes no sense for the Leafs.

We have no need for Kadri but I can see other teams in need of a player of his stature offerring up to a mid to late 1st rd pick .

I don't understand why Kadri is only worth a mid to late 1st round pick now. He has done nothing to lower his value; I guess new draft picks are shinier.

no it's because when the leafs drafted kadri his stock went down 50% on HF boards because he's playing in toronto. HF boards strikes again
