Anaheim Kings? (NBA)

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/allsta...ory?id=6140807

If this happens, can the Kings please change the name they stole from us, so we can be the only Kings in the four major sports? It's annoying to have the same colors and name of a team in the same state.

And an Anaheim team being called the Kings with the purple/silver would be hilarious in the same building the Ducks play in.

PLEASE GO AWAY SACRAMENTO KINGS.

That would actually be hilarious having Kings colors and signs all over the honda center. Although they could just as easily change their colors if they moved

If they start winning the bandwagon OC fans will support them. Especially as the Lakers get older.

It has worked for the Ducks, Angels and USC football. Go back to the late 90's early 00's...about the time I was in high school no one cared about those teams, then they started to win and people had car flags and sparking new jerseys and had become "diehards"

If they do move, I think both fans bases agree that they must change their name/colors.

no offense to you dudes but does the area really need another NBA? let alone another bad one that will get no attention?

can Seattle just have its team back already?

I think if they move to LA, the hockey kings could have reason to sue the other kings to change their name. It is one thing to be 400miles away and have the same name then to be in the same city

The Hockey team has been in LA since 67 with the name--the other kings have it since 72 and have been in four cities or so--I think the other kings would change their name for marketing reasons

The NBA is King in SoCal. More popular than all the other sports combined.

If they win people will support them, and even if they suck they will still get better TV ratings than the Kings.

A buddy of mine, who is an actual Clippers fan, told me that the Clippers have the 4th highest average ticket price in the NBA. That is with them being maybe the worst franchise in all of professional sports and sharing a building with one of the most successful franchises. All this and they still have the 15th highest attendance. I think OC could support a team...one of the league leaders no, but better than what the Kings are currently getting, I wouldn't be shocked.

I have enough issues with people confusing me with Sacremento when I mention the Kings as it is.

The Clippers are only profitable because there are so many out of town fans in LA. They don't really exist to be a team on their own, they're just there so that people whose favorite team is not the Lakers can see their teams when they play here.

I'd love to see them go back to the Royals name anyway. As long as they stay with the royalty theme... they've been around forever, so it would be a sad loss of identity.

Why would you move into a market where there is already two teams? Are the royalties they'd pay worth it? They're better off moving to Vancouver or Vegas.

Don't the Clippers play some games in Anaheim? Especially when they have a guy like Blake Griffin who may already be one of the 5 most popular players in the league.

We'll all know if the Sac Kings move to Anaheim by March 1, the deadline for the Maloofs to file for relocation. As has been said already, I think the Sac Kings could easily change their name to Royals because that's what that franchise was originally called when it started in Rochester, NY.

Rochester Royals --> Cincinnati Royals
Cincinnati Royals --> Kansas City Kings
Kansas City Kings --> Sacramento Kings
Sacramento Kings --> Anaheim Royals?

When the Kansas City Kings moved to Sacramento back in '85, their colors where the attrocious powder blue, red and white. A few years later they changed their colors to Royal blue, red and white. Then around 1995 they changed to purple, silver and black. If the Sac Kings move to Anaheim, they could be called the Royals and change back to Royal blue, red and white.

BTW, it was the LA Kings back in the '90s who were still wearing the Raider silver and black who copied the Sac Kings and went to the purple, silver and black scheme. According to icethetics, the LA Kings are mostly likely going back to the Raider silver and black next season by creating new home and away unis off of the current 3rd jersey.

Also the only reason the Clippers make any money and are profitable even though they're one of the worst francises ever is because they exist for the common man in LA to watch NBA games. The common man can't afford those outrageous prices for LA Laker games. The Cilppers are pilot fish to the Great White Lakers.

Vancouver is a hockey market, they can't support an NBA team as the Grizzlies fled to Memphis years ago. Vegas suffers from the same thing as Sacramento, they don't have a state of the art new arena with a lot of luxury suites for the Maloofs to make money or they would be all over that since they are based there with their Palms casino. Plus I don't think the NBA wants a team in Vegas with all the trouble their players can get into.

The Clippers owner Don Sterling will never move to Anaheim because he has one of the few profitable NBA franchises playing in the Lakers' house as amazing as that sounds with perhaps the worst franchise in history.

NBA teams are in such dire financial straits that I don't think the quality of new markets really matter. I fully expect 3-4 teams to relocate. Vancouver, having an arena and an owner, will get a team sooner than later.
