Not taking anything away from their offense but it had more to do with Dallas' poor efforts defensively...did you see how many odd-man rushes they gave up? i believe 3 of them led to goals(one of them being a 3-on-1).

Dallas is falling FAST. Without Richards, they've got zero chance with that kind of defense.

Yeah, but the one with the Sedins and Burrows was beautiful. That passing was crazy. If it was us, we would have probably screwed up the first pass.

And the head fake on the Torres goal was beautiful on the 2-on-1.

Yeah, but all of that started with several cycles along the perimeter right? That is after all the only way to run an efficient offense.

If it was us....that shot would have been COMPLETELY wide, or would have mishandled the pass (in which Sedin made it look SO easy).

Watching Chicago cough up a craptacular SHG to Pittsburgh just now.. something about the circumstances of the delayed penalty just don't make a lot of sense to me.

Chicago was on the PP. There was a delayed penalty being called against Chicago... during the delayed penalty Pittsburgh scored a SHG. I would prefer to see that negate Chicago's PP regardless. Instead, PIT gets the goal but has to stay shorthanded through the duration of the Chicago PP. I see the other side of it (extra skater on, the penalty cost a goal, etc.), but it just doesn't seem right. Just an oddity in the rule book I guess.

I also think teams who are awarded a penalty shot should have the option of taking the PP instead. Similar circumstances... if you have the chance to negate another team's PP, you should do it in some cases (near the end of the game if the other team is down by a goal, for example).

Meh, Hawks win. 2 points behind us and everyone else.

Which is kinda incredible we are ahead of them seeing they won all four games, and we got ZERO points out of them. That's a sixteen point swing.

Actually we'll be in 7th... we are ahead of both MIN, and DAL.

And Calgary will have played 2 more games than us.

Nope. We'll be 9th.

Dallas and Minnesota have the tiebreaker over us since the new SO wins don't count rule.

We have the tiebreaker against Calgary, but not Dallas/Minnesota.

Tie-Breaking procedure
* - Division leaders are seeded 1, 2, and 3 in Conference standings. If two or more clubs are tied in points during the regular season, the standing of the clubs is determined in the following order:

* The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
* The greater number of games won, excluding games won in the Shootout (NEW for 2010-11).
* The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
* The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.

Am I the only one that thinks that's a ****** rule. A win is a win. Why have shootouts if your not going to count them as a real win...errrrr.

It is a pretty stupid rule. A team with a bunch of loser points can beat out a team who actually wins.

It was probably put in place due to Phoenix winning like 50% of their games last season by shootout.

Since there are shootouts, you should either win games, or lose them. There's no need for points at all. The only reason there is is because 3-point games keep more teams i the hunt.

I think its a great rule. A shootout win should be worth less then a real win.

Winning a skills competition after a tie game is not the equivalent of winning a game in regulation.

It sucks the Kings could be on the short end of this tie break but it is a legit rule.

It's a great rule but not on its own. They should have lessened the value of loser points as well. They only addressed half the problem. Losing in overtime should NEVER be "worth more" than a win in any regard.
