Gameday thread: Rangers @ Wild, Oct. 10

Well, lets see if we can get that monkey off our back and find a way to get a goal, and a win! My prediction: Rangers 2 Wild 2.

Goals by Burns and Zyuzin.

My expectations are that Jacques starts all the players from last year for the home opener as a reward and allow the fans an opportunity to cheer them for their good season.

Wild win 2-1. Brunette and Bouchard.

Hopefully Roli and Manny can settle the starting duty peacefully tonight. :p

The Wild will keep up the good work controlling the puck in the offensive zone and drawing penalties, but tonight the powerplay works twice. Goals from Kuba and Zholtok on the PP.
A breakaway goal by Daigle, plus Brandner picks one up from right in front during a scramble. Wild 4,NYR 2.

I've decided to be optimistic again.. perhaps overly, but I'll still have fun, whatever the outcome.

I'd wager on Manny. Until/unless a clear #1 emerges, the rotation will likely continue... unless there's a history for one or the other against a specific team.

Wild win 5-3. Woohoo! Fun game, although there are still some rough edges. I think the passing could be improved, maybe simplified a bit. Obvious need for more stick control.. too many penalties. PK was pretty good, but it would've been better had there been a stronger effort on some of the clearing attempts... a lot of pucks kept in right at the blue line. Could've been the Rangers' talent there, I suppose. The guys looked pretty decent overall, I'd say. Daigle started rough I thought, but stepped it up.. nice forechecking. He still looks like he needs more ice time to get back into the swing of things. A few assists and another goal or two for confidence and I think he'll stick. I liked Brandner tonight. He's another guy that will improve over the next few games. Burns looked like he belonged. You know, not a superstar or anything, but he held his own, and you could see that good instinct kick in every now and then. Sheesh he looks young, though... you see older looking guys in the state hockey tournies. Bouchard had some nice moves, nice goal.. looks much better than last year, I'd say. Zholtok looked a little rough, I thought, but he picked up three assists anyway (shows you what I know. ). Laaksonen had a good game, Walz, too. Defense looked good. Bomber's goal on the delayed penalty was just a great play to watch develop.. I think the Rangers got a little lazy on that one. All in all, I enjoyed myself. Good crowd tonight, too. Louder that usual. I taped the game and noticed that the crowd seemed quiet, but I suppose that's just the difference between tv and live..

Oh hey, Daigle's goal was almost a breakaway...could I be getting better? Naw

You have any idea why he played only less than seven minutes? In first game he played 17.46 and more on PP than yesterday in regular time? Did he injured himself or what?

Ciao,
Tommi

I think after his line was on for the 2 Ranger goals, 40 seconds apart - they got benched.

Dunno, Lemaire does things with the lines that can be hard to follow. PMB was on the ice for the two quick NYR goals, but he had a big dry spell of ice time before that, too. He did take a stick to the face on his goal, but that definitely wasn't serious enough to matter. It seemed like Lemaire was running the grinders a lot more, Hendrickson, Laaksonen, Chouinard, Walz, Dowd... I would guess he was trying to stay in the game. The Rangers could have taken it away pretty easily last night, I think.
