I keep looking at Jason Arnott and asking, if the Devils wanted to get rid of him, does Dean take him? His contract is up at the end of this season. He is a center. Can play wing. Two way player. Put Zeus in 4th line role.
Leafs are in no danger of making/missing the playoffs this year. Burke won't overpay. LA would have to give up more than Schenn to get Kessel. Schenn is a just a prospect with 9 uneventful NHL games under his belt where he scored a grand total of 2 assists. Although Burke is interested in prospects, I think maybe you are making too much of the fact that his brother plays for Toronto. Having 2 brothers play on the same team can be either a good thing or a bad thing.
If Burke offered Kessel, Kadri and Bos 1st for Schenn would you take it?
HA!
If you take out Kessel...Probably still wouldnt be worth the leafs time. Although value is there. Why does it make any sense to trade Kessel, a bonofied 30 goal scorer with higher potential into the 40-50's area + a top prospect only a nudge under schenn and a 1st which is basically a standardized amount of currency in the NHL for one prospect that although good...has yet to prove anything.
Here's a look at players that I'm speculating who could be moved by next Monday's trade deadline. I'll also add some names that I personally like that I would like to see the Kings pursue. Here's the list:
Edmonton Oilers:
Dustin Penner (LW), 28, 58GP, 20G, 37P. Cap hit: $4.25M (2012, UFA)
Ales Hemsky (RW), 27, 42GP, 13G, 40P. Cap hit: $4.1M (2012, UFA)
Ottawa Senators:
Alex Kovalev (RW), 37, 53GP, 14G, 27P. Cap hit: $5M (2011, UFA)
Milan Michalek (LW), 26, 55GP, 14G, 26P. Cap hit: $4.33M (2014, UFA)
Chris Neil (RW), 31, 59GP, 3G, 12P. Cap hit: $2M (2013, UFA)
Toronto Maple Leafs:
Mikhail Grabovski (C), 27, 57GP, 24G, 44P. Cap hit: $2.9M (2012, UFA)
Clarke MacArthur (LW), 25, 58GP, 17G, 45P. Cap hit: $1.1M (2011, RFA)
Florida Panthers:
David Booth (LW), 26, 58GP, 17G, 31P. Cap hit: $4.24M (2015, UFA)
Radek Dvorak (RW), 33, 49GP, 7G, 20P. Cap hit: $1.7M (2011, UFA)
Chris Higgins (LW), 27, 45GP, 10G, 21P. Cap hit: $1.6M (2011, UFA)
Marty Reasoner (C), 33, 58GP, 11G, 25P. Cap hit: $1.15M (2011, UFA)
Cory Stillman (LW), 37, 42GP, 7G, 23P. Cap hit: $3.53M (2011, UFA)
Buffalo Sabres:
Tim Connolly (C), 29, 43GP, 8G, 25P. Cap hit: $4.5M (2011, UFA)
Carolina Hurricanes:
Jussi Jokinen (LW), 27, 48GP, 12G, 39P. Cap hit: $1.7M (2011, UFA)
Erik Cole (LW), 32, 60GP, 17G, 35P. Cap hit: $2.9M (2011, UFA)
Sergei Samsonov (LW), 32, 55GP, 10G, 26P. Cap hit: $2.53M (2011, UFA)
Chad Larose (LW), 28, 60GP, 11G, 22P. Cap hit: $1.7M (2011, UFA)
St. Louis Blues:
Brad Boyes (RW), 28, 57GP, 11G, 38P. Cap hit: $4M (2012, UFA)
Alex Steen (LW), 26, 57GP, 17G, 44P. Cap hit: $3.36M (2014, UFA)
Columbus Blue Jackets:
R.J. Umberger (LW), 28, 58GP, 19G, 43P. Cap hit: $3.75M (2012, UFA)
Kristian Huselius (LW), 32, 35GP, 12G, 21P. Cap hit: $4.75M (2012, UFA)
Of the players listed above, there are very few that I truly think could help the Kings address their scoring woes. I also listed some gritty "character" players that teams tend to load up on for the grind of the playoffs.
If I had to prioritize that list, I would target the following players in this specific order:
MacArthur, Umberger, Hemsky, Steen, Penner, Booth
If they fail to acquire any one of those players, then I'd work down the list and look at Jokinen, Cole, Boyes, Michalek, Huselius, Kovalev, etc. As you can see from the list above, there aren't too many attractive names that will be available at the deadline, nor will there be many free agents available this summer that would significantly help the Kings' offense.
For the top six players I listed above, a package of Simmonds along with another prospect and/or a 1st or 2nd round draft pick will likely be the assets that would be involved in a trade. Might cost less for a player like Penner or Booth who can be viewed as gambles, but a player like MacArthur, Umberger, Hemsky or Steen might cost a premium seeing how much of a demand there will be for highly skilled and productive players.

It's funny I was just about to this too. I agree completely but I don't think St.Louis is ready to throw in the towel on Steen just yet.
Penner, Hemsky, Michalek, Jussi Jokinen, Umberger, and Booth are the only names I am interested off that list. Another would be Kulemin if we could convince Burke to deal him for a reasonable price.

Roflmao, just changed it, yes he did. For some reason twitter is blowing up that he was going to be moved, but I can't see anyone taking him now that he could be out for the season.

Unless it was just said to be a "concussion"...when in fact he is perfectly healthy on his way to LA now...
I think oilers have every right to swing for the fences for Hemsky and or Penner
same way King fans swing for the Fences in any discussion about Schenn
With Schenn you have potential and with Hemsky you know what you are getting--when healthy he is a .90 pts per game person--him staying healthy is the fun part--with Schenn it is "He could be he will be".
I am one of the oiler fans that is pushing for Schenn--but it will cost a lot more then Hemsky to get him and the asking price is more then the oilers will be willing to pay
Everyone is under the assumption that the Oilers have to move either hemsky or Penner --but they don't
Unless Eberle, Omark and MPS can step it up--people will start to ask questions about them and resiging both HEmsky and PEnner may look more and more like a good idea.
How the picture looks depends on where you are standing. LA is in a four way tie with 68pts and unless the owner tells DL that he needs to get to the second round this year--DL will stand pat. Kings have lots of kids coming up, they are young and he is building a monster. And unless the owner tells DL he needs the secound round this year--DL may try for say Kovalev from the Sens for a 3rd

The Stig?
One of my favorite characters.
seconded. LOVE top gear--the british version, that is.
my TV usage basically goes: kings-->top gear-->xbox-->top gear-->kings-->other hockey-->xbox-->kings
and so on and so forth.
Almost exactly the same as mine with the exception that video games cause me to have seizures so I ovoid them. I also completely agree about Top Gear being the British version, the u.s. one is/was one of the worst things ever made to be on t.v.
I guess they figured that if it worked for the Office that it would work for Top Gear too.
Since I can't play or watch the video games I have inserted Corner Gas, Black Books, Red Dwarf and 30 Rock.
