Isn't Richards anemic to playing in pressure cooker markets?

That may be why he is not giving Toronto much consideration.

One thing for sure...He WON'T sign with the Islanders, and as soon as he doesn't Islander fans will cry that Garth Snow never signs any big free agents.

Cup contender? Yes. Salary cap compliant? No.

You're top six is worth 33+m.

if Gillis wants him, He'll get him. Doubtful though as the payroll is really high for the forwards already.

Really?! Top FA Brad Richards not signing with NYI. I dunno, could happen...

As much as I'd love to have the Canucks' 1-4 centres as Sedin-Richards-Kesler-Malhotra, there's no way it'd ever work under the cap. Besides, I'd love to hear Richards' agent arguing with Gillis that Richards deserves more money than a Sedin.

I'll be at the front of the "WELCOME HOME" party when he arrives back here in Tampa.. not if, but when.

What's your source on this? He has a new home in PEI and summers there, and he's obviously in Dallas during the winter.

Why would Tampa want another Centre?

If done at the deadline, the Capitals would be 380k under the cap.

I love ignorant thinking... Times are changing... The Canes and Raleigh have a lot to offer... The only thing keeping out big UFAs so far has been money, but Carolina has the least committed money to existing players in the NHL for 11-12 if I'm not mistaken... Only $27 mil on the books so far and some pretty decent young talent in the A... If Car decides to spend a little, they have a ton of money to work with

If Richards goes to Washington at the deadline, they will be $105,697 over the cap. Salary needs to go the other way.

In the deal proposed, Eric Fehr was going the other way.

Perreault wasn't sent in the proposed deal I read, nor was Andrew Gordon or Jay Beagle. I have a sneaking suspicion they could probably sneak Willsie through too, since he sucks.

I meant for Cap hits... If you get that close to the cap and you get an injury, you might be forced to play without a full roster

I fully expect him to stay in Dallas.

This makes Connolly the biggest prize of the off-season?

Yeesh.

I'm not a cap expert, but I assume that the cap hit would only continue to decrease past the deadline. At the deadline, Beagle, Gordon, and Willsie are all under 116k each. You could presumably fit all three on the NHL roster (barring player limits) without going over the cap.

Also if someone is hurt you can place them on IR then there Cap hit is taken off until that player is taken off of IR. If your running at exactly the ceiling for the cap. If a player goes down that makes a million a year. You place him on IR and then you can call up players to replace him.

Then all it'd take is to throw Poti on IR for a while and we're good to go.

Nash-Richards-Voracek
Huselius-Vermette-Brassard
Dorsett-Pahlsson-Umberger
Filatov-Mackenzie-Calvert

+Boll

That would be a pretty good lineup, then having Johanson in the AHL.

If you put those players together this year, their statistics during an average season assuming no progressions of young players and no regressions of old players with injury projections looks like this...

Nash: 39-37-76 /Richards: 35-57-92 /Voracek: 17-40-57 First line: 91-134-225

Huselius: 28-22-50 /Vermette: 20-25-45 /Brassard: 20-37-57 Second line: 68-84-152

Dorsett: 5-10-15 /Pahlsson: 7-13-20 /Umberger: 27-34-61 Third line: 39-57-96

Filatov: 11-14-25 /Mackenzie: 9-16-25 /Calvert: 20-16-36 Fourth line: 40-46-86

Total: 238-321-559

238 goals wouldn't be amazing but it would them at least in the top half of the conference in goals for.

I'm not sure at this point if it's something I read in the local media or heard on local radio, to be honest. Can't remember which.
