We've played the Canadian anthems at each Winter Classic.

Penguins deserved two points more than Chicago did. They got flat out lazy late in the game.

Well, Pitt didn't get a 2nd point after they forced OT. As long as the gap continues to widen, I'm happy. And now the HC, where I hope P.K. does something embarrassing.

Because people in Canada were actually watching.

Wow, those Calgary jerseys look dreadful with the socks and pants.

Well, I was kinda expecting him to be called for a bad penalty sometime this game, but perhaps not the first penalty. I was hoping something more along the lines of a really bad turnover that leads to a goal in terms of embarrassment.

Then again, now it's 5on3 so maybe the Flames will make them pay.

I thought Chicago was the much better team. Significantly more offensive-zone pressure, and the puck always seemed to be on a Hawk stick. Very few scoring chances for the Penguins, except that Kennedy inexplicably fired the puck over an empty net from about 8' out late in the third.

Fleury was superb, with the exception of the second goal, which was a weird one. Even deflected, Fleury looked dazed. Staal left the game in the OT after taking a slapshot to the neck / side of the head and didn't return.

How did Subban embarass himself?

also, I have to cheer for Calgary solely for these incredible sweaters. The fact that I don't like Montreal helps too.

Well, he hasn't sufficiently yet. It was just a trip that led to the Calgary goal.

And about the Calgary sweaters, they're okay. But the socks and pants are ugly as hell.

Well the thing with P.K.'s trip is that he did that just after he failed to clear the puck, so it was like a double whammy on him there.

As for the Calgary sweaters, yeah I'm okay with 'em, and I don't hate the socks and pants, but I'd prefer a solid red there, or at least no yellow below the sweater. On the other side of the puck I do like Price's mask homage to Jacques Plante.

Based on the short clip they showed, I'm glad Versus didn't subject us to the intermission entertainment.

I like the jerseys too. And since I really dont care about Calgary, don't dislike Montreal, and generally root for the eastern conference team in these matchups, they must be the reason I'm rooting for the Flames.

You know what, I watched the recap of the Caps game and it was great hearing Jackson's voice and honestly, I think he did very well doing other teams and being even about it.

I came to that same conclusion as well. I caught a few games he did that were telecast on The Comcast Network just to see how he was beyond just Flyers games. He focuses more on the game I think as he's a bit out of his element, doesn't have Coatesy or Jonesy to talk old stories/joke around, and doesn't have the comfort of knowing he's got his home audience.

Good for Kipper, always one of my favorites.

I like that game was played at dusk as well. Even though it actually sort of had an autumn feel to it.

Coatesy is ultimately what makes the CSN broadcasts painfully annoying to people who appreciate a more professional broadcast that takes the games seriously.

I wonder if someone should make a thread about this on the main area. Just an idea.

Last game against Edmonton he missed an open ice hit on Hall in Oilers defensive zone. Oilers come down the ice in a 3-on-1 and score. It was pretty hilarious, but I was too lazy to make a post for it.

anyone see that thread about the col/la blockbuster rumor on the main board? doesnt seem like a trade that wouldnt benifit either team. I honestly cant see LA dealing Bernier. The drop off is pretty significant in goal in the organization afer him. I think Martin Jones has some potential but Jeff Zatkoff ****ing sucks.

I will be extremely disappointed as an Avs fan if it happens, as Stastny is my favorite player in the entire NHL, yes that includes the Flyers players. I will not be happy at all if he is moved. Sure it would be nice to have someone like Bernier on the team but I don't want to move Stastny for anyone. Johnson is also a nice piece to add but like i've said I don't like the deal from a pure fans standpoint. Stastny is the heart and soul of the team and the "franchise" player there.

Major trades like that doesn't strike me as a Lombardi-type move.

yeah I would agree with that. I wouldnt be shocked if Moller or Voynov are moved for a top 6 forward. That is a move I could see Lombardi making.

NYI are cruising against the Panthers. Up 4-0 5 mins into the 2nd period and Weiss off with a game misconduct for elbowing in the first period. For those of us sometimes frustrated with Coburn and Carle on the team, we can at least be glad that we don't have Dennis Wideman.

It's cool Neal will never even get to play with Crosby. Don't you know, he's Lindros 2.0
