I know Niskanen has struggled, but he does fit in the way we play nicely. Unreal skater and a right handed shot to boot.

Wow insane. I wanted to see Gogo develop but he was taking too long.

In Ray We Trust.

Hmmm, I don't mind changing my username for this I hope we trade Niskanen for a more offensive minded D-man, though. Not a fan of him.

Glad to see Goligoski go to a place where he can really be a difference maker. He is going to be real special as is Neal.

I'm curious to see if this is the final deal, or if we will have to add a pick or something to it.

You can always tell how a deal goes by the reaction of the fans.

Dallas fans are ready to string Joe N up by his sack and burn the arena to the ground. The main boards are all talking about how someone needs to call the cops because the Pens robbed the Stars...

I take this as a good sign.

Yeah he put up 35 points just 2 years ago so obviously there's some offensive talent there. Maybe a change of scenery will do him good. I'm not too familiar with him, so any info would be appreciated.

Hopefully it was for just Goose. We'll see though

I wouldn't be shocked but if it were a big pick like a 1st, it would have probably been reported.

What's the scouting report on Niskanen anyways? He put up a solid 30 points in his rookie season, but from what I understand he's more of stay at home d-man though. He's got some great size. Wonder if he's a younger version of Michalek by any chance, in which case we REALLY stole this deal.

What does this do for Cap space next year? By my count it leaves about $10M and only 9 forwards signed for next year - D and Goalies look okay for next year?

How many of Dupuis, Talbot, Rupp, Godard, Kennedy, Asham, Adam, Conner, Comrie, Sterling, Ryan won't be back due to UFA status?

Any LTIR implications if Malkin comes back? I suspect they can put Sid on LTIR?

Bob McKenzie joked by saying the reason Niskanen was thrown in the deal cause Sid needed a sparring partner.

Still can't believe how great this deal is

Well, Kennedy is RFA, so he'll be back. I'm guessing only one of Talbot, Rupp, and Dupuis will be back. Maybe Conner. The rest are gone IMO.

Crosby just came.

I wasn't the biggest Gogo fan ever, but it'll still hurt a little bit because he's going to continue being a hell of a player.

Good trade for both teams, IMO.

Niskanen is definitely capable of replacing Goligoski's production on his own. A trade straight up would have been a decent trade for a defensemen more in-tune on defense with puck-moving abilities.

And then for ***** and giggles, you get a potential 30-goal scorer on top of it.

Now, envy sets in.

Wake me up befor you go go Gogo.

I am very sad to see Gogo go, but how can you not like that deal. The problem with dealing Gogo was always, that we wanted a winger, but we also needed someone to take his spot on defense. Granted, Niskanen not as good as Gogo, but he's a proven NHL player and even younger that Goligoski. I can't believe we didn't have to add a 2nd or something.

Niskanen has struggled badly this season. Thats what may prove my thought process about something else being added on our front that we don't know about, his value isn't high right now. If Dallas view a Goligoski-Neal exchange even, and throwing in Niskanen to relieve financial issues....
