This is quite a deal, but there has been a few blockbusters lately so it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

To COL:

Gustavsson
Gunnarsson
MacArthur (signed to extension at 3M per)
Rynnas
Holzer

To Tor:
Stastny
Liles
Quincey (dump)
Budaj
Minor leaguer

I thought about adding picks on TOR's side but I feel that taking quincey's contract on sort of balances the value out.

Why Tor does it: Getting Stastny is extremely important to the future moving forward and with the emergence of Reimer and Scrivens doing well with the marlies, Rynnas becomes expendable. Liles becomes the PMD Tor desires, Budaj to be used with Reimer for the rest of the season and than most likely gone in the offseason. Quincey becomes the salary dump and the minor leaguer balances out the players in the trade.

Why Col does it: Their primary goal is to get a good young goalie or a top goalie prospect. While Gustavsson has had his problems, both on ice and his health, COL gets a young goalie capable of playing in the NHL right now. Rynnas becomes the goalie prospect with higher upside and is included based on the fact that gustavsson is a gamble at this point. They get MacArthur, a very solid two-way forward, signed to an extension at roughly 3M for the next few seasons. As well, holzer provides them with a defensive prospect.

What are your thoughts?

Ignoring how bad the rest of the proposal is, Quincey may have had his struggles here but he is far from a salary dump. He will be a top 4 D for us next season once he recovers from this shoulder injury and can get back in the line up. In fact, if we don't acquire anyone else. He will probably be Johnsons D partner on the top pairing.

My thoughts are that the Avalanche trade Stastny, but don't get anything significant in return. The Leafs got Gustavsson for free and he hasn't panned out for them; why should he for the Avalanche, especially at the cost of Stastny (not to mention Liles)?

I know he's not on only player in the deal, but the Avalanche are receiving pennies on the dollar for Stastny.

He's out for the season with a shoulder injury.

And just so it's clear, the Avs are sitting at the cap floor. They have no need to make any salary dumps of any kind.

No there isn't. I wouldn't trade Stastny alone for that entire package. Yet alone Liles and Quincey added in too.

This is one of the worst proposals I've seen on here, and I honestly can't see anyway that this could be justified as fair value to the Avs.

Sounds fair to me. perhaps take out one of the firsts, but it's close.

Fair enough.

Considering the possibility of trading stastny to Tor is at all possible, what player on Tor would you demand to be in the package, excluding Schenn.

Stastny is overrated here, his value is not as high as many Avs fans think.
