LAK and VAN (offseason)

Vancouver has been looking to add toughness and it seems that LA has been looking to add scoring. Could something work, now or in the offseason, around the following:

To Van: Simmonds + Clifford
To LAK: Raymond + ??? (3rd/Shirokov)

The proposal is based on Raymond > Simmonds but not a full Clifford better and trying to even it out.

Also, it seems like Simmonds might be an offersheet target in the offseason, any insight into what he might get paid?

Why does LA do this?

Both Raymond and Simmonds are good and valuable to their clubs. I doubt a trade lik this occurs, it's arguably lateral.

Contributions from Raymond and Simmonds to their respective teams outweigh what the other would bring instead. I'd personally rather have Simmonds, L.A. would as well, and as for the add ins, I don't think it meshes well.

On the plus side, this is light years ahead of the other Vancouver trade threads, I just don't see L.A. wanting to do us any favors.

Hell no, this terms LA into a toothless bear. Pass.

Canucks jump at this, Kings don't.

This proposal is ridiculously one sided in Vancouver advantage.
LA Kings have only two tough players (Simmonds and Clifford).
You want to get both of them and in return you will give Kings one second line winger, which is not much needed by LA.

Sorry found this: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=785558

So this has already been discussed about 8 months ago (beauty on post #55 though).

For the poster that asked: Why would LAK would do it, its obvious, to add offense...Raymond is outscoring Simmonds in PPG by almost double while playing similar roles...LA is 3rd in goals against, and 20th in goals for.

As is now apparent to me, Simmonds is a big favorite in LA. So my last question is, what is Simmonds expected to sign for. Would LA match the max 2nd rounder offersheet (a little over $3M)?

Simmonds is one of the important players for LA Kings.
I am sure they will match this offer sheet

Raymond rights to Bieksa 2nd round pick 2011 and Sergei Shirokov (rfa rights? Not sure on this) before the Draft.

3 year deal 9 million dollar contract (offer sheet) would be what my back up plan would be if denied.

Just forget it. Kings will keep Simmonds.
