Devils by (jersey) Numbers

Since the Elias 800points thread turned in to a numbers discussion, I figured(after I did a search) maybe we should have a thread just for jersey numbers (past, present and future).

I really would like to see(sorry RG) Palmieri in #44. Also, I know Lou usually likes to give empty low away quickly, I would prefer #15 stay open for a season.

Pretty sure Napalm will get 15 next year. I think Yayo and Tedenby are cemented @ 16 and 21 respectively unless we bring in a vet using those #'s

Barry Tallackson was wearing 27 after Niedermayer left. Langenbrunner is no Niedermayer. NaPalm for a real(as far as the Devils are concerned) number next year!

The guy drafted right after Tallackson would have looked good in 27 in red

Palmieri would look good in 15. I say give it to him after the Dallas game. The guy will be pumped up if that happens.

I do have a mancrush on Napes and his big ears.

Clarkson and Mottau wore 27 also

This is the first season that it hasn't been issued I believe since he's been gone

I'm feeling 22 or 25 for Palmieri (depending if Arnott is back of course) and I'm feeling 2 or 15 for Fayne......I'd like to see a defensemen with 15

What is your favorite number, that you wore through sports or whatever?

Me, I've always gone with #7........number my dad wore when he played, and I also am a Mickey Mantle fan, been wearing it/liking it since around age 9

What I would like to see including potential call-ups (completely unrealistic):

#1 - Hedberg
#2 - Fayne
#5 - White
#6 - Greene
#7 - Tallinder
#8 - Tedenby
#9 - Parise
#10 - Pelley
#12 - Rolston
#14 - Vasyunov
#15 - Palmieri
#16 - Zubrus
#17 - Kovalchuk
#18 - Zharkov
#19 - Zajac
#20 - Josefson
#22 - Corrente
#23 - Clarkson
#24 - Volchenkov
#25 - Henrique
#26 - Elias
#28 - Taormina
#29 - Urbom
#30 - Brodeur

I actually like Fayne in 34, but I know Lou is weird about about it.

When I was a kid I liked multiples of 7, the two I had most between basketball and soccer seemed to be 21 and 35. Somewhere along the line, I switched to 50 because the multiples of 7 seemed to be taken a lot, and 50 was just a stupid joke because it was 13+37 (1337... ). But despite not having much meaning, I always sorta stuck with 50 from then on.

I don`t get why our players should wear low numbers only (I know Lou likes it, but), not to mention couple of them (likely 5) will be retired soon...

Many players like 37, 39, 81, 87, 88, 82, 55, 44, 77, 71, 90, 91 and I like them too. No big deal, just a detail, but still. Some players are pretty superstitious. When I was playing for high school team (soccer), I always wanted the same group of numbers (if not particularly one) on my back. One thing that "pisses me off" - Rod Pelley with #10. No disrespect to him, but that number is usually reserved for star players in every sport (especially in soccer). Seeing 4th line grinder with #10 is pretty weird IMO. I`d like to see that number on one of our best players.

My favorite is #5, I`m born on 5th february and it has always been my lucky number. In soccer it`s no14 (Thierry Henry, favorite player of all time), in basketball it`s no3 (D-Wade), in hockey it`s no9 (I can`t think of exception - Zach, Duchene, Roy, Kane and few more, all my favorites).

I actually like Fayne with 34 too and I don`t like the idea of NaPlm getting 22, for me it`s Dmen number. 32 on the other hand doesn`t look that bad although I`d like to see #15 on his back. I`m ok with #16, #21 (Foppa) and #18 for Yayo (his #27 in Albany was nice, but it won`t be avaliable in Jersey soon), Teddy and Zharky. If Zach stays, Teddy won`t get his favorite number anytime soon and until that day comes, he`ll stick with #21 long enough to keep it IMO.

I support most of this. I'd leave Tao at 20 though. Leave Teddy at 21 and Zubrus at 8. Fayne at 2 for sure, I can definitely see that. I'd like to give Josefson 91 and Zharkov 11.

I do like this, but I see Zubie staying at 8. Make Tedenby 11, and make Josefson 21.

Maybe it's just me, but after MacLean's coaching attempt and Langebrunner's captaincy attempt (both epic fails), I would REALLY like to see the number 15 given a LOOOOOONG rest.

Keep Yayo at 16, Tedenby at 21 (we've never really had a good #21), Zharkov at 18, and give Palmieri 22 (it sorta fits).

You should name your kid seven.

Anyway, I always use 86. Don't know why.
