Replacing Donnie with Isiah would be so bad, but I bet it still happens.

Also I also hate the current superteams being constructed, but whatever. It'll always be why Hockey and Football come 1st and 2nd.

Im unfamiliar with the CBA in the NBA but Melo must have the Knicks by the throat now in regards to signing that extension huh?

The Knicks probably want him in MSG asap for the next game - Cant Melo press the Knicks in like a "min-holdout" to drive up that price even more or were the extension terms already figured into the deal and its just housekeeping at this point?

Melo's getting the max. It's all about just signing the contract now.

Figuring out what it means for Kelenna Azubuike, who was issued No. 7 (tho he's never worn it yet).

Hopefully it means he's getting sent out for a center better than Turiaf.

What's the deal with Azubuike? I'm trying to catch up with everything I was sort of ignoring and see he's been injured. I see we got him from GS for David Lee, is he any good?

Also off-topic but I met David Lee the year before he was traded. Seemed like an *******.

Agreed. Or at least a pick.

More likely it means that Melo bought it from him.

I've seen him many times in the Myers parking lot across from MSG. He is always in his Ranger Rover and sometimes had a date sitting next to him. People were hanging all over car talking to him. All he wanted to do was leave. One word answers as he was trying to pull out.

Quality player. Good 3 point shooter, good defender. Coming off serious surgery. Has been rehabbing all year.

Funny you say that about DLee, by most accounts he is a really good guy.

I was working a promo gig at MSG with some company and he was supposed to come to sign autographs. He really snubbed everyone, barely signed any autographs, tried to stay hidden and then just left as soon as he could without talking to anyone.

And good about Azubuike, would really like to see us build a good bench now.

I think Donnie's got his eye on some big man, although, I keep reading about the potential returns of either Earl Barron or Jared Jeffries (after he's bought out by Houston).

Is Earl Barron actually a quality player who hasn't been given a chance, or is he just really subpar?

I'm half and half on the trade. I was a big fan of Gallinari. Felton was having a tremendous year. Chandler was doing well too. Mozgov is an afterthought in the process. In addition to giving up three starters a 1st round pick in 2014 and two 2nd round picks? A little too steep in my opinion. If Carmello works out in New York though then he and Stoudemire can maybe give this team a real push.

I did not see the need for the trade. Carmelo openly stated that he wanted to be a Knick. Just because the Nets could have acquired him does not mean he would have signed an extension with them. They could have signed Carmello over the Summer and kept most of their assets. Sure, Gallinari isn't going to be Carmelo Anthony but he is developing and still has plenty of room to improve. Ugh, you just hate to see when a player your a fan of leaves... I guess thats why it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I really liked the game Felton was playing too, after Stoudemire he's been the most consistent player this year.

Acquiring Billups makes the deal better. But he is what, 34/35 years old?

Hopefully this all pans out. Overall not a bad deal, the Knicks acquire a superstar and in a game of superstars that is a HUGE acquisition but at the same time they gave up a lot to get this guy.

Hearing Carmelo will wear No. 7, while Azubuike will switch to No. 17. Azubuike was inactive all season, so change can be made.
-Hahn on Twitter.

Mystery solved. (But doesn't mean that Buke won't still be dealt.)

I wouldn't be shocked to see Gallo go back to Italy when his contract is up.

I heard that Gallo might get shopped to either the Nets, Clippers or Cavs.

BTW, after listening to Donnie on both 1050 and WFAN, I am convinced of two things + 1) the media are a bunch of vipers, and 2) I am more confident with Donnie as GM than any GM of the other teams I root for.

Agreed, Donnie comes across so well in these interviews. Hope he gets his option picked up, it is a joke if it is not.
