I absolutely loved the Eller/Kostitsyn combination tonight. Eller was covering the entire ice surface, showed excellent hustle (he's a tremendous skater), and was not afraid to get into the corners. The pass to Kostitsyn for his goal was beautiful, and he almost set up Andrei again for another goal halfway through the third. The fact that Martin had him out on the ice in the final minute is very promising. That's probably the first time I can recall that Eller played in the final minute, especially in a one-goal game.

Very disappointed that David Desharnais did not get on the ice in the third period. Is it because Pouliot took his dumb penalty, and Martin did not want to put Pouliot back on the ice? It was a shame, because Desharnais is the complete opposite of Pouliot. Plays hard and plays smart, and I wish 57 would learn from the smaller teammate.
I think it's just because Martin really wanted the win and so he kept playing his vets. You can't take the chance of having a 5'6 rookie centre vs. big stars like Sedin and Kesler, it would be cause for trouble. Vigneault responded by giving Hodgson limited time.

I would bet on Desharnais getting a lot of icetime against the Leafs to make up for it.

And yet, another disastrous SUPPOSED game that didn't happen. When are people going to learn? Almost every freakin time we expect a blowout, we end up either winning or keeping it close...Let's predict a blowout every game!!!!

Good all-around game boys. Couldn't care less if people say that the Nucks didn't bring it...we didn't let them bring it. Great enough for a road win. Let's hope it gives some life to some players.And...keep Eller at the center position. From this day, to the end of his career. Thank you very much.

As far as DD is concerned, I will not understand it....but tough to blame since we won it. I just wish we'd have a team so that the best defense, would be the offense. How about scoring some more goals instead of playing the PK for the last 20 minutes...But then it wouldn't be Martin hockey.

Let's hope DD rebounds with another solid performance. And let's hope we have another solution than Halpern on the 2nd line.

Carey Price with a steady game. AK played a spirited game as well, if only we could get that guy more often. Those lines should play together again hopefully for a couple more games. I thought Gomez played another good one as well. Go Habs Go. Beating the top seed in the league feels great.

Feels like there was a glitch in the matrix.

Good job to salvage the 2 points.

Who cares. We won.

The Desharnais line played in their own end all night (with the exception of the breakaway).

Lets not anoint Desharnais as a #1 or #2 centre quite yet people.......

Don't get too excited folks, it's only one game.

But yeah, Eller and AK46 were great. Eller was glad he's finally playing center again and AK46 was glad he's no longer with Gomez. (And the whole team was glad they were on real NHL ice. )

Nice gesture by JM for sending them on the ice in the dying minutes of the game. That must be a first for Eller.

Good for Eller and AK. It's ironic how the pairings got ****ted on in the line-up thread.

First of all, wiiiiiiiii! Victory!!

Have any of you noticed all of the Canucks' goals were PP goals? If not for the refs, we would have had much more success.. Although without Price, we'd not have limited the score, methink.

Finally, I am sad. The other fanbases won't stop saying we can't get a victory without diving!! :'-(

Enfin!!!!!!!!!!!

Very good win considering Carolina/Rangers went into a 3-pointer.

Price was very good, but we had our chances to make this game 4/5-2.

I can't believe DD wasn't given more ice time. I don't get it.

On the other hand, I'm very happy for Eller and Kostitsyn. Can Lars be the spark that gets AK going?!

Since when does Deharnais take up so much room in this team? He's still a scrub (probabaly too strong a word but I think its appropriate) on this team and benching the least productive line in the third has been JM's signature move as a coach.

"????"

Yeah, fair enough, and Martin does have a tendency to protect his young, inexperienced players in situations like this. That said, Eller got out on the ice in the final minute. Perhaps it was because Eller had a fantastic night tonight, and was tracking back to his own end extremely well throughout the game, but over the last 20 games, Desharnais has shown he is the better defensive player.

That said, I have faith in Martin with our young players. It might be a contrary viewpoint to many people on these forums, but I think he aspires to make his youngsters responsible at all ends of the ice, and until you can prove that you are competent at it, who need to sit out.
