Sounds like Matt is just echoing what many have already said on hfboards....maybe we are Matt's sources afterall.

I can see not moving any forward prospects but our 1st and a d-prospect are expendable. Sturm and Parse will be as effective as Stillman on the Kings. Poni should be traded as I doubt he resigns. Drewiske should be available because I doubt he beats out Voynov or Hickey next year. If you don't pick anything up at least trim some fat Deano.

This time of year, proces are at the highest. Obviously... if nothing isn't out there, wait until the off season when things arn't as crazy.

Prices are high all the time weather its the Trade Deadline in the offseason or at the draft. I dont mind patience. But....One day were going to keep saying "prices are too high" Dought, Johnson, Kopitar, Quick, Brown will be in their 30`s.

The Canes and Kings had a deal worked out. Lombardi wanted to sign him to a 2 year extension, but Whitney wanted 3 years.

Prices are considerably higher now than in the offseason. Versteeg was traded for spare parts in the offseason, a week ago he went for a 1st round pick and a 3rd. (one could argue his value has dropped as well this season)

He's actually hurt right now, but before that he had three goals in his last 22 games and he's only scored in seven games out of 58 on the season. Glad we passed.

i am aware...which is why i mentioned him

his passes would hit kopi's stick quite well

and i think Whitney-Kopitar-Williams would have been a sick line

Teubert or Voynov and a pick. I think the Canes wanted Teubert.

*In the meantime, tonight I am hearing the Kings are considering Tim Connolly as a possible option and they may not be doing much beyond that...there are some definite mixed signals coming out of LA.
From Eklund.

o boy i'm sure it's real.

Dancing Boy said there was zero to the rumor of Stastny to LA; even though loads of higher end reporters said they heard the same rumor and even at the Heritage Classic.

Stastny should be a King by tomorrow.

That's like what another 10 years. Okay, I'm willing to bet this approach will have paid off quite well by then. I am just hoping the dope Leiweke can keep his hands off things long enough for this to start working.

Our best players aren't even close to being in the prime of their career and this team is still playing some damn good hockey. Better than we as Kings fans have seen in quite some time.

Lets don't let the actual facts stand in the way of criticizing Dean for not making a trade. I mean any trade. Damn it Dean do something, anything. The incredibly intelligent and wise natives are getting restless.

There was an article on this that was posted by me yesterday, I guess Eklund finds his "scoops" from other sources.

As for the rumor itself, Connolly was a very productive #2 C for the Sabres over the past three seasons, but he's never healthy. This season he missed a stretch of games due to a groin injury, nasal surgery and a hip injury. His biggest issue was concussion that he suffered from that kept him out in 2006-07 and he's had back and hip problems that have sustained.

Injuries aside, he has demonstrated that he can produce, as he scored 65 points in 73 games last season and was just about a point per game player in 2008-09 and 2007-08.

If the Kings were to add Connolly, I believe their intention would be to have him serve as the #2 center, slide Stoll to the #3 spot and have Handzus play LW or center the fourth line. Gives the Kings more experience if Lewis can't handle the physical nature or intensity of playoff hockey.

Connolly is a far more skilled player than Stoll or Handzus, so he might excel as a #2 centering Smyth and whoever else the RW may be between Brown or Williams. What I do like about Connolly is that he is very fast and has a great set of hands.

But again, you have to proceed with caution with a player of his background and history.

That show did cross my mind when I read that. I hope we can convert some of them to wingers, or something.

If the price isn't too high, I could see Dean taking a chance on Connolly. As I said in another post if healthy, he gives the Kings added speed and another set of good hands.

Sabres fans despise Connolly. They can't wait to get rid of him.

Does anyone know why they don't like him? Is he just the Sabres resident whipping boy?

Dean gets Connolly and I will quietly flip out. How many often injured, low risk, low reward moves can a freaking GM make.
