I'm 21 and I think Dubstep sounds like crap. I guess I must not be as enlightened. It's fine if you guys like Dubstep (there is no right and wrong opinion when it comes to music), but you aren't going to get anywhere promoting it by acting like music elitist guy.

Dubstep is nothing more than another sub-genre of techno to get all the trendy hipster kids to like it.

in the early 90s it was industrial. in mid 90s it was Electronica, in the late 90s it was digital hardcore. early 2000s it was trance. late 2000s, drum and bass.

Please stop making it sound like dubstep is some epic revolution in music. It's just another slightly updated version of techno with a slow grind hip-hop beat.

"For the most part"? Glad you've conducted diligent research. I look forward to bringing this thread up in the future.

And for the radio stations you've listed..
http://www.top40-charts.com/chart.php?cid=27

Any songs on here to your liking?

Ignorance is bliss my friend. I don't only listen to dubstep, house and trance but I still listen to rock, hip hop and hell even some jazz from time to time. If you don't think electronic music is on the up here in the US, you clearly never go out to clubs. If you do, you go to the same place every weekend with your same plain group of friends. Top 40 music generally goes to an "electronic" beat, aside from country.

Hop out from under the rock and open your mind to other forms of music. I'm done with this thread, but Let's Go Sabres!

Wompppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Man...people were saying the same thing when I was a freshman in College in 1997 and Prodigy's Fat of the Land came out. Any form of electronic music is always going to be underground in the United States. Learn to deal with this reality and you'll be much happier. Who cares how many people like the genre of music you like anyways?

Also, people are much more likely to be receptive to music recommendations if you aren't beating them over the head with it.

I just hope for sanity's sake. They get rid of ALL John Denver, Neil Diamond, and Beatles tunes. That junk pumps up NO ONE. I've said it before, they need to sit at a Montreal game AND a San Jose game. They both do a great job (music wise).

Seriously, think its good music but its not meant for the NHL.

As for this "Dubstep" havent really given it a shot yet odds are ill like it because I am into every genre of music there is. However to say its "musical revolution" is just ridiculous...

I just think Dubstep is cooler than the Goo Goo Dolls.

EDIT: I'm not really trying to promote it. I was just mentioning it.

And you've heard probably one Dubstep song...the one I posted. There are so many I don't even know all of them.

It's a new wave of music that isn't anything like techno. It has way, way more bass.

I don't feel any need to defend myself here...but just throwin it out there that I'm definitely no hipster. I appreciate all types of music. My first love is actually hardcore/post hardcore.

I'll post a little something for everyone to **** on and say it doesn't belong in NHL arenas.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIcrQpdaJwM

In my defense, I've heard "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" by Drowning Pool in at least 3 different arenas.

Truth be told, I wouldn't mind seeing an intro song / video based off of "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue. That'd be kick-ass.

Junk?

I don't feel the need to qualify that statement with a response.

Anyways, I have no issue with the Goos. Sure, it doesn't pump anyone up, but if you're a player and you need music to pump you up, you should be relying on it in the locker room and on your own time. The arena music is meant for the WHOLE crowd, not just the dubsted/hardcore loving 15-25 year olds who will like anything as long as they can say it's "underground" and that they've loved it forever.

Leave the classics in. If you don't appreciate it, bummer for you. 90% of everyone else in the arena will.

i didn't say you were a hipster. But, did mean what i said. Dubstep is the trendy new thing so all the hipsters will pick it up for a bit then drop it once it gets popular. That's how hipsters work.

My point is definition. Dubstep is not a revolution in music, it's just an evolution of techno. Revolution should only be used on rare occasions, like Robert Johnson, Chuck Berry, Grandmaster Flash, Bob Marley. People who create and define completely new genres in music.

Second, every dubstep song you posted has a horrendous beat to it. people want heart racing rhythmic beats, not the bump and grind.

Third, when you mentioned hardcore. I came up with a joke song for the Sabres that were run by Quinn.

"Delete yourself, you got no chance to win!"

I think dubstep has a better chance in surviving simply because now A LOT more straight people are into the scene. It used to rely heavily on the gay/lesbian population but that has changed.

We'll see!

No rap.

Atari Teenage Riot would be interesting.

But really, let's just cut the **** and all admit to ourselves that it should be "Thunderstruck."

Nevermind. Stick with Goos. It's a Buffalo thing.
