Before Svatos got hurt, he was fitting nicely on that Leggy line, much better than Sully. Sure, we're not gonna' waive Sully. But, we darned well coulda' put Svatos back on that line and given that a shot.
I think this goes more to a point made yesterday, which is that we are much better as an aggressive 2-man forechecking team. Bring back Ferris Mueller or Halischuk.
Is he on a 1-way contract? If someone claims him (doubtful) do we have to pay 1/2 the salary? If no one pays him, does he go to Milwaukee?
No, 2-way. No, we'd be off the hook for his entire salary. No, he doesn't necessarily have to go to Milwaukee. Not until he is reassigned.
One thing to note: if he clears waivers, we would then be free to trade him. We couldn't before due to article 13.23 (players who play in Europe then come back mid-season)

Came here to say this. He was playing well in the couple games before his injury and seemed to be starting to gel with the Legwand line. Then he gets injured and isn't really given a fair chance after he comes back. Yet we decide to keep trotting out a very ineffective Sully over and over again? Doesn't really seem right.
Is Zherdev someone we should look at? He has immense talent but his work ethic has been highly questionable this year.
Yep svatos was the problem all along. Never mind the fat cats Dumont, Sullivan, and Ward. I am absolutely pissed at this move. Dumont or Sullivan should be waived well before Svatos.

Dumont can't be waived due to his NMC. I'd keep Ward. He's a good 3rd/4th liner. No comment on Sully
The first thing I thought was a move is happening, but who knows with Poile. I've kind of learned my lesson in questioning his moves because the guy always ends up pulling some genius move out of his hat...
wait... maybe I should question him then. ahem.... come on, Poile! What are you thinking here? We need offense, so you waive one of the few pure offensive players we have just because he was hurt almost as soon as he suited up for us?!
I wonder, did Svatos ask out of Nashville? Obviously he thought he was coming back to the NHL to play in St. Louis, not Nashville until he was claimed by Poile, and he's probably not happy with the way he is (mis)used by Trotz, so I can see Svatos wanting out.
NTC: player can still be waived without his consent
NMC: player cannot be waived unless he consents [unless the player is being waived for the express purpose of being bought out]
No. The NMC gives him control over whether or not he can be placed on waivers. If he allows the team to place him on waivers then the NMC gives him no further control over another team claiming him.

He probably saw the system, saw what it would do to his offensive game and asked...
Thought he looked decent last night. Better than some of the veterans for sure
something to rememebr to, he can waived, and then we have 10 days or something like that to assign him, trade him etc. Maybe just a setup so we can trade him by Monday.

Due to our injury situation this makes no sense... what exactly will Nashville gain from this? Also about the possibility of trading him why would anyone trade for him when they can get him for free off waivers?
Maybe I'm dense or stubborn, but I really just don't get all the Dumont hate. In my opinion he's been treated fairly crappily, minutes cut, paired with people that are borderline NHL'ers for the most part, and seemingly done it all without pouting. But, he also has started working harder, tried to get stronger in the offseason and has been hustling a lot lately. He's not the kind of player (especially since he got rattled a few times) that is going to go all Pavel Bure and skate through the other team 3-4 times and score a highlight reel goal every other game, but he can still see the game, you can see it in his passes. I think that he might be the most mis-used player on our team right now. I realize that's not much of a news flash, but I still don't get all the people complaining about him.
Honestly, when Goc gets back, I'd like to see the G/SK/E line and then I'd put Fisher/Legwand/Dumont together for a couple of periods and let the bottom 6 hit their hearts out. I like the thought of Legwand on the wing with Fisher - that's 2 pretty fast guys with a guy that can see the ice pretty well.
I just think that we are going to HAVE to have 2 lines with some offensive creativity or we will continue to get crushed and will have virtually no chance to make, much less advance in the playoffs.
Oh, and Erat and Legwand must be on 2 separate lines. I don't know what to do with Sullivan at this point.

we have 7 dmen, 2 goalies, and 14 forwards on the roster. Suter may or may not play tomorrow, but not on IR. no only 6 healthy Dmen. Maybe Poiles got a move in him. Maybe Trotz is gonna bench someone and needs the spot for one of the kids in milwaukee. maybe this is a favor to svatos as he doesn't have a place in the lineup since we prob aren't moving dumont or sully. Lots of variables we don't know. Or how about a dman got hurt last night or is ill. No way we think about Chicago without Suter and another dman out. We would have to get someone up here, just in case...

All that sounds good, in principle, but I heard Steve Ott the other day on the radio saying NTC and NMC really aren't worth the paper they're written on. He said no player wants to play on a team where they are not wanted.
