Player Rankings - KHL: Karri Ramo on Top

http://www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/feature/?ID=11703

Rating of 89.73; ahead of Radulov (87.49) and Petri Vehanen (85.03).

For what it's worth (I know it's incomparable) Thomas is 89.01 and Price is 75.40.

It seems like he's having himself quite the year in Omsk. It would be great if he came over next year and backed up Price or maybe, with the solid play of Auld, give Gauthier some leverage in regards to off-season trading.

I came here to post this

Man, remember the flip outs after Desjardins was traded omg.

Seriously, the amount of posters who give our management the benefit of the doubt when it comes to trades is ridiculously small. Maybe, just maybe the guys in management know what they're doing.

Auld fits the backup role well. He seems to be satisfied to play second fiddle to Price.

Ramo, on the other hand, gives us an outstanding bargaining chip for a possible post-season trade. Who needs a goaltender and would be willing to give up a physical defenseman or a physical forward who is capable of playing on the 2nd or 3rd line.

I think the Habs may be able to lure him over by saying that they agree to trade him if there is demand for him somewhere where he could be a #1. He always has the KHL in his back pocket as plan B.

We could sell him back to Tampa since Roloson will likely die of old age in the off season.

I'd love something around Ramo and David Jones of Colorado.

it's nice to see, but it does absolutely nothing for us until either he comes over and plays for us OR we are able to trade him for something.

we've had a few players that have been very good in the KHL (Korneev, Emelin, Perezhogin...), not one of them has contributed anything to the organization aside from giving fans something to speculate about.

The better he does over there, the bigger contracts he'll be offered and the less likely that he'll want to come over the pond and watch Price play 65-70 games a year... and every other team who may have interest in him are just as aware of that (both of our hands being tied, and of Ramo's unlikely interest in coming over to be a #2)

i wouldn't get my hopes up that we can translate him into anything more valuable (asset-wise) than what Desjardins was/is...

MAG Speculates that the habs are dangling Ramo's rights.

And he most likely is right.

I love that some of the players listed are still going.

#30 on that list? Oleg Petrov!

#36? Alexander Perezhogin!

Hasek #44 amused me. Not an ex-Hab like the 2 you mention, but 46 years old and still one of the top goaltenders over there... How about this one: Brandon Bochenski is #10, lol. What a league.

Am I the only one hoping Perezhogin will find his way back to the Habs in the near future?

Haha after seeing his name, the list lost all credibility for me.

Good to see Petrov is still playing. I honestly thought he was older than 38.

Desjardins' replacement Robert Mayer has a spakling 3.06 GAA and 0,887 SV% in the AHL. Desjardins himself has much better stats in the AHL and a 1.00 GAA and 0,970 SV% in two games IN THE NHL. He earned a win against the Habs as well.

Meanwhile Ramo is doing absolutely nothing for us by playing in the KHL. Good trade!

I wouldn't say Ramo is doing nothing by playing in the KHL. One he's developing in arguably a better league and 2, he's making his stock rise as an asset which would potentially be traded. He's already stated his goal is to be in the nhl, he's been here once before but as he said, left because of Tampa management.

Desjardins wasn't in our long-term plans and isn't in Tampa's either considering they have had brutal goaltending he has only played 2 games. Ramo has a lot more potential and is younger. To say he's doing nothing for the habs right now is false. He's developing and is raising his stock. Desjardins wasn't going to play for this club anyway.

The KHL season ends much, much earlier than the NHL. (They're in the playoffs right now.) Any chance Ramo or Emelin could be available to the Habs after the KHL season ends?

We can speculate all we want about the future of each player, but right now Tampa has a better AHL goalie, and a goalie who played a key role in two wins. He has been well above average in his two key roles, while the Habs have the below average Mayer to replace him. And call me crazy but having a 24 year old not under contract "developping" in the KHL does not reassure me that we will eventually benefit. Advantage Tampa.

I guess we'll see next year if Ramo joins the Habs or ends up traded as an asset.

Ramo can not, Emelin could if they got a contract worked out.

Robert Mayer's first year in the AHL: 8-8-2, 3.06 GAA, 0.887%

Cedrick Desjardins' first year in the AHL: 4-4-1, 3.04 GAA, 0.909%

Sparkling, indeed.

Desjardins won 2 games for his new team, therefore the Lightning won the trade. Good logic.
