Hagelin has three things every GM wants in a hockey player:

-Leadership
-Competitive Drive
-Intelligence

I'd imagine the Rangers offer him a max ELC because you can't have enough of these types of players in the organization.

Hagelin's got the on-ice motor of Callahan, the passing of Marty Straka, and the skating of Freddy Sjostrom (although I think he doesn't have quite the top-end speed).

I think comparisons to Fedotenko are valid in terms of ceiling. He's not physical enough to score many garbage goals, but he's criminally underrated as a passer and would be great with a big player like Boyle. I think if you watch a game and take note of his shot, it's very quick and accurate from the circles in.

I've been on board with him for a long time and I think that he could be a great, great role player for an NHL team. Is he ever going to put up 50 points? I don't think so, but I can see him as a 15g 25a player or maybe even a 30a guy.

Callahan projected to be a 3rd line role player too, probably in the above mentioned point range... This season, minus the games missed due to injury, he's been on a pace for close to 30G and 60 points!

Hagelin is a nice prospect, for a kid drafted in the 6th round of a weak draft.

But we shouldn't put all our eggs in his basket for a LWer. If he shows up in camp next year and shows he needs likely a full year or more of AHL seasoning, it isn't the end of the world.

I wonder what his opinion is about potentially playing in the AHL... If he's open to it or one of those NCAA Seniors who's looking to only sign a pro contract with a team that's going to give him a legit shot to earn an NHL roster spot...

He seems to have a great head on his shoulders and I'd bet he realizes the jump to the NHL may take a bit.

Some of you guys are overthinking things with Hagelin. I really curse that idiot writer who put it into people's heads that Hagelin might not sign with us. That article was pure speculation on his part, simply to sell newspapers (or whatever medium he works in).

Hagelin has never said he wouldn't sign with us. Everything I've ever read about him (and I read as much as I can about him), suggests that he's nothing but a stand-up guy. I fully expect him to sign with us and I absolutely believe that he would have no issue with playing in the AHL if he doesn't make the NHL team. Why would he? This isn't a kid with an ego. He's as down to earth as they come.

I'm not thinking about that article at all... If you read up, I was linking people to Brooks' article that refuted that report that the Rangers weren't interested in signing Hagelin.... My question is a legitimate one, it's from the players perspective... Some players coming out of the NCAA might be expecting to jump straight to the NHL and not put in any significant time in the American Hockey League... I'm thinking about how our roster will be shaping up next season, and if they bring a player like Fedotenko back, there likely won't be any spots for any younger players to earn, and it all be guarantees players like Hagelin and Kreider will be playing in the AHL...

I think this whole baseless Detroit speculation is giving people some false thoughts on Hagelin. He played his senior year to get a degree, develop his skills, and try and win a national championship. I'm sure he would have no problem playing in the AHL, although he could probably make the Rangers in a 4th line role.

My question is not based on that report, which said the Rangers weren't interested in signing him.... If the Rangers and Hagelin can't agree on a contract or come to terms, he becomes a UFA right? I would pose this question about any player in a position to become a UFA... We had the same concerns with McDonagh this past off-season, independent of any reports, no?

2 fights. He got an instigator, a major and a game misconduct at 19:59 of the 3rd period. Something set him off at the end of the game. It looks like there was a large brawl at the end of the game brought on by a charge from one of the Swift Current players.

Oooooh, this was a home game for Moose Jaw, that means their over-the-top announcer would have been calling the action during the fights... Anybody heard that guy from previous McIlrath fight videos? He sounds like he's calling a WWE match... He goes nuts.

But again, there is nothing about Hagelin that suggests that's even an issue. He isn't the kind of kid that is going to demand an NHL roster spot. He just isn't. You needn't worry about such things. He will sign with us and he'll play wherever he needs to play.

Hard to tell, but it looked like the SC player ran the goalie, everyone got involved with Mcilrath fighting the guy who did the charging.

The first fight was stepping in for a teammate who laid out a huge hit but didn't want to fight the guy that got nailed, so Mcilrath dropped the gloves in the place of his teammate.

2 good reasons to fight AFAIC.
